My favorite recurve. I have copied the grip because it suits me better that any other recurve I have shot. I had Bob Morrison make me a shawnee with that grip and I was very pleased. Bob's bow was a close second and did not have to wait a couple of years. I have a Dakota pro hunter on order but I want to shoot a A&H longbow for a while.

Can't go wrong with a DALE DYE bow IMO. They are quick, the quietest recurve I own and the craftsmanship is unreal. Pictures tell the story, the grip is different, but in a good way. I really like like how it fits my hand.

I would suggest picking one up in the classifieds, and then place your order if you like it. He has a 14-16 month build time currently. If you end up not liking a Dye, you will have NO problem selling it. Good Luck!

I recently bought a Medicine Point recurve and have to agree that the grip is the best I have ever felt.  Workmanship and performance are also outstanding.  I can not imagine anyone not being impressed and pleased with one of these bows!

Elkherder:  The outside wood is Bacote (Mexican Rosewood), the vertical is Striped Ebony, the points are Satinwood and Wenge.

I believe that Dale made 12 (Millennium Risers)in 2000 all the same woods.

Elkherder the Medicine Point is cocobolo with satinwood and hollywood
The Good Medicine is Bocote and Bloodwood accent with some really pretty limbs. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I got one from a fellow Trad Ganger. Nice guy and great bow. Since I got my Trails End I set my new ACS and a couple of custom longbows down. You heard it all before fast, quite, dead in the hand, beautiful. You can't go wrong with one.

Thanks thunder. I wouldn't mind talking to him anyways. Does he have info that he sends out about his bows? What does it take to get on the list to have one made? Mabey if it takes that long I will get my PCH and a Dye when my name comes up!

Kevin, some very sweet Dyes you have there.

I guess I'll have to break out the camera and actually take some photos of mine (once I figure out how to post them).

I see there are a couple of bows pictured there that Dale made for Steve Berger.  He doesn't live too far from me.  I have a couple of bows that Dale built for him.  I've told him that he was crazy for selling some of them.  I see that the one piece Medicine Point was built for him.  Like I said....crazy.  They would have to pry my cold dead fingers from that one!

BTW - that snakewood bow is one beautiful creation.  Keep me in mind if you ever decide to part with it!

those bows come in six packs or something?
Title: Re: dale dye bows
Post by: hayslope on January 23, 2010, 04:05:00 PM
Larry - therein lies the problem...once you try one you buy one. Then, you start thinking that you need another....then another.....then you're on the phone with Dale discussing what you are going to have him build for you (and of course, when he will get it finished).

I've got one in the works, but it is far easier (and quicker) to buy a used one (too easy).  Used Dye's seem to show up in waves on this site......Certainly makes it tough to not overindulge....or maybe that word doesn't apply at all!!!!

Someone coined a term on a recent thread that was related to being addicted to Bob Morrison's bows.....and there's a reason!  I'll have to call Steve Berger and see if he ever coined a similar term for what he has......I believe Dale once told me he's probably built around 62 bows for Steve over the years.  There's a few of his bows pictured on this thread.  I would say that whatever it's called....Steve had a bad case of it!

I have to agree.....every photo of a Medicine Point (I have one on order - due in Jan/Feb 2011) just chips away at what remains of my patience.

Title: Re: dale dye bows
Post by: RLA on January 25, 2010, 11:19:00 AM
I got all 3 bows right here on Trad Gang. They had different limbs on them when I bought them. I sold the limbs that came on them and had Dale build these. Getting new limbs from Dale only took about 6-8 weeks. The 37# and 40# are my wifes babys, the 43# is mine.
