Guru, you've got my interest peaked about the styks from your turkey setup post. Looks like a beautifully designed bow. Need to see more please!!

Joe you da man!!! Love them KWYK STYKS... Randy J...
THE AGONY OF WAITING...mine should be coming soon!
Chris,
I got my Kwyk Styk about a month ago from Joe. You're gonna love it! Well worth the wait.
Randy
Notice I slipped my Stealth in there...If I could get that bow in customers hands, they too would be impressed with the performance.
Joe-I wish you would quit doing that! Hap
Very nice Joe!!
Chris,
I feel ya man, I've got about 10 more months.
Joe,
I noticed that ;)
All those pix and a little talking convinced my dad to drop a order as well. Looks like another 56" static limb KS is going to be heading down South.
Buckster,
I am close and the anticipation is killing me. At least I get to shoot my dads every couple of weeks.
He now owns the cocobolo and bocote KS pictured above.
Really nice looking bows. It is a shame I'm too impatient to wait for a bow to be made and I'm too slow when the rare KS pops up in the classifieds.
I had to keep going back to the pic of the limbs (looks like stained red elm???). I couldn't figure out why you posted a pic of a limb with a broken off tip. It took me awhile to realize the tip is facing away from me :knothead:
Sure hope to shoot one someday...Mike
I've never had my hands on one, but alot of guys sure seem to like them. I do prefer bows with the limbs mounted that way (black widow, habu, etc.) for the higher brace height.
Nice job there Joe !! just wait 'til i get my Raven , then we'll have a REAL show and Tell. LOL (http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x132/recurvehunter_2007/P1010466.jpg)KS static limbs (http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x132/recurvehunter_2007/statictipsfullbow.jpg) 58" Rosewood Riser W/static limbs (http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x132/recurvehunter_2007/sergiowithbeararrows.jpg) 56" W/full recurve limbs 56" Bow handle w/ bear quiver att. Beautiful bows now I want one!
Nice bows!!! Would love to shoot one someday.
Bill

I'm liking the KS that I recently acquired so much that I've placed an order for another -- now the wait begins. Mine is pictured above in Joe's post--cocobolo and bocote (although the woods have darkened considerably).

Curt,
All nice bows you have there, but that Charcoal Diamondwood is just outstanding.
Hey I want to play too.
Mother Nature was nice enough to create a great backdrop today(hoarfrost).Managed a few pics after work. Enjoy. Those are some pretty bows. Mo those limbs are awesome looking. What are they? Can you give us a close up look at those bows?
Hey Curt, ever think about trying another type of bow? I don't think those Kwyk Styks are a good fit for you. ;)
:biglaugh:
Never get tired of those pics
Sorry Guys, rookie move on the resizing of the pics. Hopefully these are better. Mo, Tell me about the KS with the antler knobs, Zebra/dymondwood? That might be the nicest one I've ever seem!!
Similar to what I want my next one to look like....
These bows look like they would draw butter smooth, is that the case? Compare the draw to a SA widow please. Performance? Compare to widow also.
thx
Dave
I've never drawn a smoother bow in my life...especially a 56" bow....I don't know how he does it, but Jack does....
I don't shoot Widows, so I can't answer that part of your question...
Nice pics, Momo! I really like the wood combos on the last one. Is that bocote/macassar ebony handle and bocote limbs? Please enlighten me.
Hey Fella's, glad you like the bows.Curt you nailed it. I was looking to use Bocote at first but Jack talked me into going to Zebra-wood instead.Sure glad I listened to him.Plus he said he had some funky zebra for the limbs. Jack sure put a beauty together.
Really like the Dymondwood for its heft and strength.Stats are:
[Zebra] 56" static limb, finger grooved riser, antler thumb rest, 2 sets actionboo limbs, 1- 56#@ 29"/ 2- 49#-29" -
[Cocobolo] 58" static limbs, stippled grip, 2 sets maple core limbs, 1-63#@29"/ 2-56#@29"-
momo-t,
I'll take that 56" zebra Kwyk Styk and them two perfect weighted limbs..... How do you want payment....Paypal or money order? :D :readit:
Mike
Mo, For the sake of asking, can you tell any difference between the maple limbs and the action boo???
I luv my 2 Styks, both are the regular full working limb. But if/when I get another, it'll have the statics... not there's anything at all "wrong" with what I have, but I know Jack and Serg really like the statics...I have to try them!
I get so many people asking about the difference...
I would guess that the static limbs would be quite a bit smoother to draw.
I can't see how that's possible...truthfully, my KS's are a smooth as anything I've draw regardless of length....
I have static limbs for both of mine and they seem "quicker" than the regular recurve limbs. My buddy shoots his KS with recurve limbs and they feel a little smoother. Either choice is a winner in my opinion.
Oh wow! One of these days....
Every Kwyk STyk that I sell here, I run a few arrows through it. So far the past 2 yrs all bows had the Static Limbs and trust me, they are extremely smooth as well as being "Kwyk".
I have not done any force/draw curves but I have a KS coming in for Chris Surtess, again Static Limb and I will do the F/D curve. Curt...if you want, maybe you can come up and we'll scale your limbs. I have regular limbs mounted on my Stealth, 58#, 60" at my 27" draw and this bow will pull smooth to 30".
I had one of our hunting buddies draw it back to 30" and run some 2315's out of it. From personally shooting all the Static limb bows before I ship them out,again...they are super smooth. The 56" model would be perfect from 26-29" draw. 58" out to 31".....Just ask Serg to confirm.... :readit:  :jumper:
Joe,
Don't do to much testing with my bow ;) I want to get to chasing rooters with it right away :goldtooth:
Static or conventional? Thats a tough one. I think it depends alot on the individual and his or her needs.Draw wise I would presume the regular curve would have a slightly[very slightly]smoother draw at the end of the draw.Would be advantages for a clicker shooter[as I am] but I think the Static limb outshines when it comes to lateral stability. As in a long bow the limb tips are much harder to twist at full draw therefor making them much more forgiving on a not so perfect release. That coupled with a better string angle [less finger pinch]the static are my choice as a 'hunting bow'.When I comes to crunch time every little helps .
Curt as the difference between the limb cores,I wish I would have the time to seriously test it myself but from what I have been told the bamboo should have a slight advantage in performance over the maple core.Chose maple for the time tested durability in the 58" as that is my 'rough and tumble' bow and actionboo for the 56" 'going to town' bow. I'm sure both of them will keep me in full freezers and Taxidermy bills for quite some time. Thanks Mo
Thanx Mo
Guru,
That gray Dymondwood bow sure is a looker, too bad he made it backwards.
What are the specs on her?
Dave
How high are ya"ll running your nock point on your string? Thanks Randy J.
Hey Joe, so you're saying that at my 29 1/2" draw, a 56" static tip would be good??????
David
Yes Dave...that would work. 58" would even be smoother with the Static limb.
Randy..I never really measure nock pt. I nock the arrow then move it up until I see the right angle off the shelf. Just a personal thing for me....I set your bow up that way.
Chris...when your bow arrives, I promise no more than a dozen arrows through it. I'll set up your nock pt also...I highly recommend a TS-1 FF string for all Kempfs. Three Tree STrings, Tony Cochrane does a great job. I just like the performance of these strings. I have them on both Kempfs....
Dave, I gotta agree with Skippy...I draw mine 28.5" and it's smooth as silk. I do show people some times how far I draw it, and draw it past 30" with ease...
Randy, I use a single nock point usually right around 1/2" and I nock under it...
Curt you know how partial I am to that charcoal diamondwood........hope you don't mind if I order one that's a twin to yours......except of course right handed!
David
David,
Don't feel bad I have two on order that will have gray dymondwood risers with maple cores and gray actionwood lams in the limbs.
That's what I need to hear Chris, and besides matching yours and Curt's it would match perfectly with my Shawnee...... :bigsmyl:
David
Heck no buddy, have at it!!
Stop already I am weakening - and my wife will hurt me this time.
Thanks Curt, thats what mine likes. Randy J.
I forgot to mention...my bow should be done next week :goldtooth:
Hey Chris, any chance of leasing it for a year or so with an option to buy? :bigsmyl:
David
Thanks guys, for all the good info.I'm going to place an order tomorrow for another 56".This time I'll give the new static limbs a try.
How about some more pics!
