I recently got a Savanah in on a trade, wondering if anyone knew what type of string material they use? AMO is 62"-3" should need a 59 string I think. Reason I ask is that the string looks skinny, not 16st. B-50 for sure. All help appreciate.
Mine came with a factory fast flight string (don't know what type). I made a spare with 14 strands of B-50, and liked it better than the fast flight it came with-so that is what I use now. I found it quieter (the fast flight was pretty noisy).
I am not where I can measure it now, but as I remember it was 59" or so.

the savannah can handle modern hmpe string fibers.
59-1/2" bowstring, maybe. depends on the brace height yer shooting to achieve.
you didn't specify the holding weight. 16 strands of dacron would be overkill no matter what the holding weight.
6 or 8 strands of df'97 would be more than enuf if the bow was 60# of holding weight.
Like said the Savannah can handle all the modern materials.I shoot 6 strand 450+ on a 55# and 65# Savannah.I believe it was right at 59" string.
The Savannah was the bow that got me started on my Traditional journey...love my bow! Marked 50 @ 28" but we scaled it at 50 @ 29" on a friends scale. My initial string was the factory FF, don't know the exact material but it held amazingly well. I literally had 14 to 15 thousand shot on that string in two years (5-7 days a week for 7 months straight for two years), the main reason I started making strings was to never subject a bow or string to that much abuse again.
I shot mine at the low end of the BH scale...6-5/8" and the string is exactly 59" from the end of each loop. I have a 14 strand D-97 on it currently but will be making either an 8 or 10 strand 8125 string for it shortly. Probably later after I post this message!
You should be able to use any FF material available on the market today...FF+, TS-1, D-97, 8125, 450 or any FF material I haven't mentioned.
At any rate I love this bow and I will never get ride of it, she holds a dear spot in my heart!
As a side note, the tips and the ends of the limbs are small so have a string made with smaller loops. I like mine with 10/12 twists...10 on the bottom and 12 on the top. Don't use a string with more than 12/14 unless it a very small diameter string.

One more thing...even a small diameter string will have padded loops so you won't have to worry about that now that I think of it.
