Title: Black Widow chrono results
Post by: Zbearclaw on January 13, 2010, 06:02:00 PM
While in Ga visiting my family I took the opportunity to shoot it through the chrono.

BW PSAII 60" #55 @27".

Shooting a 29" carbon express 250 heritage with 200gr head,  3x 5" feathers and full length reflective arrow wraps.

559grs total.

I draw to 28" to the front of the riser, got 187fps repeatedly.

After shooting and testing I needed to drop the point weight to 175grs but didn't get to recheck the speed.

Plenty of speed for me.

That seems pretty quick to me, my Wes Wallace Mentor is around 175 with almost the exact same set up. I would bet that your arrows will blow right through any animal that you shoot at.

Thats a big number with good weight in the arrow.

I am plenty impressed with the quickness.

I just had no idea what it would be so that was neat.

A year ago I was shooting a compound at about 90fps faster, but I have killed more deer and been havin more fun with the Widow.

Takin it over the state line to hunt Javelina and deer in AZ tomorrow till Monday.

I am not worried about the bows speed, just it's holders hunting prowess!

When I checked my friend MAII 65#@29, with a 650grs arrow, it arrived to 195fps.They are pretty fast, but like most of the good customs around. What I have seen they usually require a stiffer arrow than most with the same poundage.

I wish I had a 29 or 30 inch draw length.  In my opinion that more than anything influences speed.

WOW! I haven't chronoed my MAII but I'm shooting 640 gr arrows with 56#@ 28. I'm impressed with how much quicker it is compared to my home made 3 pc Bingham recurve that is 65 @ 28.

I had to go up to a 55/75 from a 35/55 with this bow.

The thing which is important to compare bows apple-to-apple, is the ratio of arrow weight in grain per pounds.

If those numbers are correct that is very quick with that arrow. Despite all the flack that you hear on Widows, they are very nice shooting bows.

Shadman hit it on the head I'm very impressed with the speed of my SA and PMA but more than that I just shoot these bows better than any I've ever had and there built like a tank .FOR ME thats all I need.
