Must be a rerun. I thought Fred completed the slam a couple of years ago.

The Tule elk was added last year or the year before, changing the number of animals from 28 to 29. I THINK Fred got the Tule ahead of Rich Duggan (hope I spelled that right?), so Fred is now the first to accomplish the Slam with a recurve. I guess added wasn't the right way to say it. I think the game biologists declared the Tule as a seperate species or sub-species. Mike

fred definately gets it.i am poured from the same mold he is.i am not a trophy hunter at all.although i try and shoot a bull elk above a cow if a cow wanders into the redzone its on for sure.i ran into some of the primos boys once in burns...what a fiasco that was, they sounded like a herd of elk goin through the woods with all the hunters, guide, cameraman etc...makes me realize just how tough it must be for these guys to actually take an elk on public ground.sure glad its them and not me.

I thoroughly take my hat off to Fred, he really is a great ambassador not only for Trad huning, but for ALL hunting.

But...

I also really feel for Rich Duggan. He worked long & hard to complete The Slam & in my mind, he'll always be the first to have taken it. Having another species added on after the fact is a bit of a slap in the face, in my opinion.

It would be insane to hunt with Fred someday!  Talk about a fun guy to be around.  He's definitely a guy I look up to.  I love the shows with his wife and kids too.  It's great to see.  I will add, I can't believe how easy he is to get in contact with.  Pretty awesome.

Congrats to him on the Tule.

I Agree!

I really find it hard to watch the hunting shows, most of the time i just get upset and feel they are really hurting the hunting industry!

Fred However i really enjoy, its very refreshing to see someone else that really loves the hunt for the hunt! without pushing their "Higher than thou" stuff and other crap onto the audience.

Most of us say the great part of traditional hunting is the fun it brings, no arguing the fun he's having.

Really do tip my hat to him, and is probably IMO the most proficient shot i have ever seen on game under hunting conditions, time and time again!

Congrats Fred good job Mate!    :wavey:

Fred is a good guy.

He does 3 shows all together, but the one I think we are all refering too is Easton Bowhunting TV.

He also does a Predator show and contributes to the Muzzy Show with his wife Michelle.

Fred's show is great and I have nothing but respect for the guy, but imho Rick Duggan is still the first superslam with a trad bow.  Not his fault that another species was added "after the fact"

Fred is an awesome guy and the reason I went trad 100%. I used to mess with a recurve from time to time but relied on my training wheels. After watching Easton Bowhunting TV I fell in love with wanting to feel that feeling that he gets with every harvest. I got to meet with and talk to Fred a bit a few years back at our UBNJ game dinner. He is a real down to earth guy and his wife is awesome too. Got a pic with him and my dad and a copy of his book autographed too. Skippy

Anyone after a pope and young pronghorn needs to talk to him.

My buddy went and said he could not believe the quality of animals.

And the price is pretty good too.

He is a treat to watch, and my DVR wasn't pickin it up either.

The tule elk getting added was not a surprise, many folks have been adding points not just because it was to be added, but a different species anyway.  Not sure why it matters that he or anyone else got #29 before who.

Fred is a great guy, so is Rick Duggan.  If I'm not mistaken, Rick already took his Tule elk before Fred, so upgraded his slam as well, so both have continued to pursue their hunting passions.

Go figure. Congrats to Fred on his most recent accomplishment. He is amazing and a true credit to traditional archery.

I met Fred a year or 2 ago as the guest speaker at ATAR and WVBA.

He is a great hunter and ambassador for all hunting.

BUT what impressed me the most was the fact that he was traveling with a coon hound pup that was a rescued dog that needed nurtured back to health. He carried this pup on the airplane from Colorado, that tells me what kind of person Fred Eichler is- first class all the way!
