Title: treehopper climbing belt
Post by: bigbellybuck on January 10, 2010, 04:27:00 PM
On the website it says you can also use this as a safety belt. I always use a harness, but it looks like this belt would be a lot simpler and more convenient. Looks like it might hurt if you fell out of the tree, though. I'm aware that tma says to use a full body harness. I'd like to here from some people who actually have experience with this belt.

I use the belt all the time. I use it as both for both climbing and sitting.

I should use a harness, just my experience with a harness was every time I pulled it out of my pack it seems the thing always got tangled. Trying to untangle an all black harness in the dark is no fun. I'm sure they make them better now.

With a belt I always cinch myself in pretty tight..I don't really like being in a treestand. I don't have it like some where they can stand up, lean out with the belt holding them and take a shot. If I'm sitting I have to readjust the belt to stand up. I'm sure it cost me some shots before, but I like the snug feeling.

I like the belt because the harness turns into a mess in a backpack. I use it to hang the stand, then adjust it/secure it before I get onto the platform. Works for me.

If you are looking for a "belt" that will double as a stand of sorts check out Trophy Line's Tree Saddle.

I carry a set of tree spurs and wear the saddle and can pretty much set up shop anywhere I wish.
