In my area it wasn't too bad.Got a doe this year, several of the other members got deer as well.Been seeing decent buck around the area too as a result of the antler restrictions.

Vermont deer hunting is terrible to decent, depends on who you ask.  There are a few mature bucks roaming around, and every year a few are taken by 1) luck, or 2) die hard hunters.  Shooting a doe or small buck isn't too much of a problem with proper scouting and hunting, but mature bucks are few and far between.  We have hard winters, too.

Lived here all my life, love it,shot plenty of deer but five years ago went to ohio and said "WOW". Not even a compairison. We have a nice hunting experience here, nice scenery, some deer, lot of history, but the state has lost most of its prime deer habitat. The farms are almost gone. In the 60's it was the place to be, now it is not.
