Has anyone mixed SAIII/PSAIII risers with SAX/PSAX limbs? If so, did it look ok and do you have pics?
Here is a link to a photo album with a bunch of "Exotic" BW's that I started, and guys from the Widow Wall have been uploading pics to.
You may find some here. Black Widows "Exotics" Album (http://gs73.photobucket.com/groups/i215/AQBJ8S3ZS2/)
No reason why you cant mix and match.
Keep in mind the psa's, pl's etc. are all cut on CNC machines and the older ones are hand crafted. Not an issue of a difference in quality but more precise tolerances in the newer ones possibly.
I don't have any experience with this but this is what I have been told. Makes sense if you think about it.
Buckeye
Thanks for pointing that out.
I forgot to qualify
Starting in 2003 to present all PSA/SA (short riser) limbs interchange.
All PMA/MA (long riser) limbs interchange but not with each other(long to short riser).
That's when they started to CNC them.
Earlier years will fit, but there may be a mis-match in a not totally flush fit. The BW folks can fix that.
I have a SAIII riser with a set of PSA V limbs on her. The riser was refinished and run through the CNC to make sure the new limbs would fit. I like the look and the weight of the SAIII and the bamboo in the PSA V limbs. The limbs have ironwood veneers, one of the few that were made this way.
Yes I have. The limbs fit fine. I did it on purpose as my final intent was to film dip the bow.
Thanks for all the info guys. Gene, appreciate the link. There are some nice looking widows in there!
