What size aluminum would you use to put the external footing on the Beman ICS 500's? The chart in the "How To" section has a 2114 listed for the 400's. I have some 2117's, but they seem a tad loose.
Maybe the inside diameter is a little different from the 2114 to the 2117?
Someone posted a chart for that yesterday or the day before.
I actually found a post where some kind soul explained what those numbers mean. If I remember right, the first two were the outside diameter of the shaft in 64ths of an inch and the last two numbers were the diameter of the shaft wall. That would mean that a 2117 had an inside diameter of 0.29413 and a 2114 had an inside diameter of 0.30013
Try going smaller for a better fit and post on here what you get for the "perfect" footing.
This is the chart I've seen on here...

The formula for figuring the inside diameter would be
Inside diameter=((FIRST TWO NUMBERS)/64)-(SECOND TWO NUMBERS*2)*0.001
If this makes your head swim let me know and I can crank some numbers out for you.

I will get a hold of some calipers so I can figure the OD of the ICS 500, and then maybe I can figure out which aluminum would likely work. If anyone has access to an ICS 500 and some calipers and could post it, I would appreciate it.
ISC 500 are .285 so a 2013 should be perfect @ 286.5 I.D.
Are you sure about the 2013,I mean 20XX Easton arrows are 20/64" or 5/16" outside diameter, that is smaller then a 286.5 I.D. ?
I too think that Earl is off a bit there. I thought that the ICS Bowhunters of.500 were 5/16 in diameter as well. I had some 2117 pieces cut for them and they are a little sloppy but my the 2016's I compared had identical OUTSIDE dimensions to them.
5/16 is 312.5 right - 26 = 286.5 that should be the I.D. of a 2013 and the O.D. of the Beman ISC hunter 500 I have here is 285. should slip right on w/ 1.5 ths to spare ???? maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Wouldn't the ID of a 2013 be (20/64 - .013)= .299? If the OD of the ICS 500 is .285 it be kind of sloppy, I would think.
I am sure there is someone out there who has footed the ICS 500's. Anyone?
Sounds to me like Earl has a caliper he used to measure an ICS 500 and came up with 0.285 for an outside diameter.
IF that formula I posted is right then I think that 2016s would be
0.3125 - 0.032 = 0.2805 inches (inside diameter too small)
and 2013s would be 0.2865 which might be too close for comfort.
but I've been wrong before. :)
I just went down to the local shop with a piece of the carbon I want to foot (a 7595 blem) and started trying to fit it into the different aluminum arrows they had. Best fit I could find was a 2216.
There's nothing like field testing to figure out what really works.

Pack, just noticed in your post you only subtracted one wall thickness...you need to double the second number (20/64 - 2*0.013)
Thats right, thanks, el_kirk.
I am heading to the archery shop this weekend fer sure..I am totally confused about whats gonna work well. All I know for sure is that 2016 has the same OD as the shafts, I have them and I tried. 2117 is a bit sloppy. I will post if I find something that works if there isnt some DEFINITE answer before then.
As far as I can tell a 2013 is going to be your only choice.
