Interested in a 56" Kwyk Styk. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Ryan
Yup , phone Jack Kempf 1-780- 467- 3939.
Be prepared to wait a while as he is behind, check the classifieds altough there are very few that come up for sale.
Good luck.
Bert :saywhat:
Thanks Bert!
Ryan
Worth the wait!!!
Hey Ryan give Jack a call, you certainly won't regret it. Super man to deal with and he does know his stuff.Good luck if you choose the 'used' route. It's tough but they're out there,I know two that have been purchased lately.
Guess it might be hard for you to find one to try out in your area. Tell you what, send me a plane ticket and I would graciously have no problem bringing mine for a test ride. [LOL.] Especially at this time of year.
All kidding aside I'm sure you would be totally impressed with a purchase of a Kwyk-Styk,new or used. Mo
Thanks guys!
Mo - I have a better idea! I'll come pick you up in my canoe. Do you happen to have an extra paddle for the ride home?
Thanks for your response I really appreciate it. I'll give him a call this week.
Aloha!
Ryan
Talked to Jack yesterday and he has about 3 dozen names on his list. Some guys will back out but you are looking at close to a year. It costs you a phone call to get on his list, he doesn't take deposits.
I would phone him if I were you and get on there asap. I am on his list for a bow for my wife and a new riser for an extra set of limbs I have.
Everything that is being said about Jack being a nice guy.....absolutely true.
Terry
Thanks Terry,
I just spoke to him this morning. Super cool guy!
I put my name on his wait list.
You won't be disappointed Ryan, I have a pretty good collection of Jack's stuff, Sergio might be ahead of me but not by much.
Terry
I can vouch for both Terry and Jack. Terry you have to learn to pick ONE and styk with that!!!
Nay , Nay, Nay ,Terry ! you have me beat by a long shot ( No pun intended!!) And both you and Gun are better shots than I .
I have managed to "kidnap" Jacks new kwyk styk , that he finally built for himself , he sent it to me to " trick up the Riser", but he might get a check in the mail rather than his Bow! LOL.
You guys are lucky I don't live closer to Jack....I still wouldn't trade or sell my Stealth. I know the Kwyk Styk is a great bow and my customers are well pleased.....but the limbs are mounted on the wrong side for me... :saywhat:
Hey- since some of you have a bunch of them already....let's trade places on Jack's list :D .
Joe I was at Jacks today and picked up my Kwyk Styk ,, Thought my Stealth was my go to Bow but after shooting my new Limbs on the Kwyk Styk well I don;t know?? saw your name on an order for a Kwyk styk but Jack said it was for one of your People .. Don't know how you can own just 1 of Jacks bows ,, :)
You are correct Gord, thats why i'm still trying to catch up to Terry !! Can't hardly wait for my Raven! :campfire: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:
Joe; the only thing that can be on the wrong side is the sight window... you know like Curts bows. LOL
Hey guys,
Does Jack make 56" kwyk styk limbs without static tips also? From the pics, it looks like some are static and others are not?
Thanks!
:goldtooth: :biglaugh:
Ryan, Both of mine are regular limbs....I luv them both. But I have a serious hankerin' for another KS and when I get one, it'll be static....
Highly recommended by Jack and Serg...either way though, you really can't go wrong!
Bro - I know..I know..I think I'm finally devoted to Trad. It's my new years resolution. (lets see how long that last)
Thanks for the info! Happy New Year and I hope you have another great season this year!
Aloha!
Ry
I think , that Jack puts a little more Mojo in Curts bows than mine because they shoot more accurately than mine do!!??? . Gonna have to talk to Jack about that !! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Ryan...Repeat after me my friend: "No more training wheels in 2010..."
Curt "Guru"...hmm...that guy has Mojo!
Peter
Ryan,
If you have the wheels around, you are going to use them, no matter what you tell yourself; BS resolution or not. Sell them and you won't be tempted. Seriously, take it from a guy who didn't do it for about 10 years :(
I'm picking up another set of limbs for my Stealth. Going with 58" and I really loved those Wavy Zebrawood limbs I sold Randy Jackson...
Ryan,
I've had my Kwyk Styk a little over 2 weeks. Really nice bow. I have other custom bows and this one is the best bow I've ever shot. It's forgiving, fast & quiet. I talked with Joe Skipp and Curt, and decided to get one. It's the best decision I've ever made. Joe will help you out with anything you need - great guy to work with. He will become a good friend.
Randy Jackson
Joe Sounds like the Raven is calling you as its limbs are on the side you like and can be had with Recurve limbs and Long bow limbs ,, Looked at some nice Zebra wood at Jacks yesterday,,its one of Jacks favorite woods for limb lams .. also saw some real neat salt and pepper ebony which is almost ivory color with black stripes in it (very intersting))Sergio :::you will really start to collect Jacks bows as every time I am at Jacks he is finishing another Bow for his Pal Mel , I don't think mel can count all the Kempf bows he owns??
Pete... I edited my signature to remind me daily! ;)
Steve....I'm selling everything that's compound related. I just sold a bunch of stuff today. Hopefully I can sell the rest this weekend! Going to use the money for a new recurve. :D
To everyone else thanks for all the help and info! I really appreciate it!
Trad guys rock!
Ryan
Gordon...LOL...if I lived next to Jack, I would have every one of his bows. I'm also shooting my son's Kempf 2 pc longbow..one of the first Jack made.
Might have to bug Serg to send me his Raven for ad purposes...and to shoot of course.... :saywhat:
After these Stealth limbs, I think I'm going to get myself his one piece longbow. 58" 56# at 27".
Cocobolo riser, wavy zebrawood....whattya think?
Serg... when we feed Joe some of his favorite adult juice and he can't tell what side the limbs are on anyway... so does it really matter!
Curt... what is this bow mojo fo?
Joe... are you going to the bunny hunt this year?
That is all!
Ah, I love to sit back and watch the corruption of another soul to the trad side!!!!!!
Welcome my brother.
Raven? any pics? what lengths" 3Pc?
I guess only I get the serious Mojo package from Jack....not easy to talk him into it, but if he really likes ya......
Ryan, You'll luv it bud, without a doubt worth the wait bro! Good to have ya back
I've been following your "downward spiral" on the Sitka blog ;) . Never said a thing, hoping you'd be back someday...and here you are brother!!!
Does this mean we can start getting our strings again??? I've got a couple new TallTines that are going to need the S2 treatment
Really appreciate the welcome back! You guys are the best! It's tough at times living on an island with friends that only hunt with compounds. No excuses though.... I caved in, but now I'm back for good!
Mahalo my brother!
Ry
Steve, I'm glad you still like my strings! Even though I picked up a compound, I never stopped making strings, but...... I guess shooting a string made by a compound shooter just aint the same! :D
No worries now, I'm shooting a BL curve. Drop me an email with all the info when you're ready!
fellas...lets see some pics of jacks bows...
does he have a website?...can't find one. Thx
Greg
While this thread is up....what do your KS's brace at??? My buddy just bought one (60") and he's letting me try it for a few days. The thing smokes an arrow...I mean "SMOKES", and I'm fine tuning for perfect arrow flight. Having a tough time finding the "sweet spot". Any help would do. Pete Wards review was done with one at 8 1/2 "s but thought most were likely less??? Thanks....Ryan
I find most of Jack's bow shoot the best at 7-7 1/4". So far every Kwyk Styk that left my shop was set at 7 1/4" and my Stealth is the same brace. I even keep the Kempf Longbow there.
What Joe said, 7-71/4, mine are faasstt !
Joe and Sergio are right on the money all my Kempf Bows like the same .. I have been shooting skinny strings 8 to 10 strands with padded loops .. beaver fur for silencers very quiet and Fast!! :wavey: :archer:
I shoot TS-1 Strings off all my Kempf bows. Tony Cochrane from Three Tree Strings does a fine job.
I like the quietness of mine at 7 3/4"...I my have try to lower it and see....it's been a while since I had it that low....
I also shoot TS-1 on mine....but Ryan did make one for me that was made out another material that was outstanding.....don't remember what the material was...
7-7 1/4...Man it is sweet... Randy J
Have two 58" KS with exact same specs. One is best at 71/2 and the other likes is at 73/4.
Curt... it was 8125.
Mine are set at about 7 1/2".
The Raven is a 3 piece takedown with longbow or recurve limbs. The recurve limbs are the same as on the stealth. I will try to get some pictures on here over the next couple of days.
Gordon is correct, Mel is probably the king of Jack's bows now that Hicks migrated east.
Terry
I use B.C.Y.string materal .. I like 452x the best .. 8125 is good as is d97.. For flemish strings I like to pad the loops with B500 .and when I build Endless strings I Double serve the loops with .030 halo serving, Terry I had forgotten about Duane Hicks and his trad bowhunting skills , and bow collecting ,,and opinions!!
Ryan makes a heck of an 8125 string I might add. Glad to see ya posting again. A Kwyk Styk and a Border HEXV are on my ultimate wish list, but for now "I will just have to get by" with my Morrison Cheyenne.
Thanks for the BH info. guys! Can't get over how fast this bow is!!!
Hey Vince,
Thanks for the kind words. I'm still sport'n that cool cap!
Ry
