I have been a member a little while, some of you have helped me a bit, and it just dawned on me i should introduce myself.
I am Jason im a 40 yr old father of 3 wonderful kids, and 2 yellow labs. i got hooked on traditional in the strangest way..my kid bet me i couldnt shoot an arrow through the tire swing at 35 yds..now, we are talking a toy barnett thing cost about 15 bux, i never made the shot, but tried and tried for days. thought it was way more fun than my compound, which i hadnt shot in a few years. I bought a Bear grizzly off **ay, that led to another, and another, well you know! my collection is nowhere near most of the guys here but, someday.
I am a quality control/ safety inspector for a cable tv contractor..my lovely wife of 17 yrs is a welder..we dont have tons of money but we do what we can, i save and buy things when i can.
I hunt with a 1970 Kodiak hunter 45#@28" i hunt public grounds and i live right across the street from my spot, i also have thousands of kettle moraine state forest within 10 min of my house. I havent shot a deer with my recurve yet, i let a big buck go at 15 yds this yr due to the angle and brush ( that was hard)
I just built a room in my basement and over the years have piece by piece collected stuff.. this yr for christmas i got a bohning crsting kit so im going to try to bild arrows now. im sure i will be asking about that for sure.
ok ive rambled enough, thanks to all i hope i can someday learn enough from you all to be the one giving advice.
have a great year, Jason
Welcome Jason! This is the place to be.... :)
... mike ...
You betcha! Welcome!
Hi Jason
Welcome
Glad to have you at the fire.
Everybody seems to bring a different kind of wood, and some smells good, some adds a satisfying crackle and snap, some flames up high and some burns long and warm.
It's a darn good fire.
Killdeer :wavey:
Welcome to the gang. Remember having fun is the name of the game, that's what shooting a bow is all about. Have fun and enjoy.
Welcome to the clan :wavey:
Welcome Jason.
We hope to see you hanging around and posting more often.
Sounds like you've laid much of what makes Dad tick on the line. Kudos to you.
Fairly new in these parts myself but long behind the bow; well, bows...you know.
Good to hear you're diving deeper into the arrow thing. I could never own the number of arrows I do (not tellin'...not countin') if I didn't choose to make my own...and can't imagine the fun I would have missed out on if I didn't have arrows to spare.
Best to you and yours, Rick.
Eastern Wi, Awesome area. Great location for everything it seems. You should start Goose hunting with the recurve LOL.
My uncle teaches in Lomira/Mayville. I always liked it down there!
Oh yeah Welcome!
Welcome to the
Welcome Jason,
You're definitely addicted friend. From a toy bow to fine vintage bows, now getting ready to make your own arrows, next you'll be asking for patterns/designs for quivers. All I can say is, "AIN"T IT GREAT!
Welcome Jason! Which Kettles do you live by, north or south? I'm in Lake Mills, east of Madison. Have you seen the thread about the bunny hunt in a couple of weeks?
Welcome! You will remember that large buck that got away without a shot forever and it will be a great memory. It's part of the deal...
