Ive been shooting St Epic 600's at full length with 125 grains points/ broadheads. I got traditional only 600s for christmas. They shoot almost identical to the Epics, which is a little weak. But im goin hogg huntn n 3 weeks soooo i really wanna up the FoC and mass weight of my shafts. I cant find heavy inserts that will fit since 600s are smaller in diameter than the vast magority of shafts. Id like a 100gr insert with a 200 grains broadhead. What do yall think of all this. Im sure ill need to take a good bit off the shafts to get em shootin straight. But where can i get inserts small enough?
Hunter Smith.
The new ST Epic's use a HP-insert,they are a 9/32" arrow and I haven't seen 100 gr inserts for them. The older plain Epic's were a 5/16" and you could use the 50 or 100 gr brass inserts in them. But the ST Epic's all they have is the HP-insert,you would have to make your own inserts.I took some 50 gr brass insert and mounted them on a drill and spun and filed them to fit some Heritage 90's.If your ST Epic was alittle weak you might have to get some 500 spine shafts so you can use 100 gr. inserts and tune them to your bow.If your Traditional only shaft are smaller you might have to make your own like I did for the Heritage 90.
Too funny !!! I was thinking you needed 600 inserts. Man, you go through a lot of arrows.
Did the same as JRY309, and best I recall, 100 gr. brass inserts came out around 82-83 gr. when sized to fit heritage 90s.
