Kota, kohannah, great northern - that's all I can think of at the moment, though I'm sure there are more. I have a Robertson Peregrine that I love, but Dick stopped making them.  Good luck.

How about a Thunderstick Ramhorn?  Jim doesn't have them on his web site, but he will make you one if you call and ask.  It's a great bow.

Anyone consider the Toelke Chinook a 50's style recurve ? If you do, it is a sweet bow. Very quiet.

Chad Francis @ Lost Creek Longbows.

He is a sponsor, a good guy, and he builds a very nice shooter.

I have a 54" Thundersick Ramhorn that is a GREAT little bow in that style.  Slim, clean lines, good performance, and very "shootable."

Jim Reynolds is a class act and a fine bowyer.  I think he would be a great choice if he'd do one for you...

I have a 58" 40# River Runner in the Sponser's classifieds that was made with a women or younger person in mind.  It has a smaller grip.  Chad

You can always find a good used glass recurve at the big auction site from time to time. I got a Wast there once for like 80 bux.(pristine)

THANK YOU ALL for your input I will let her pick the one she likes the best. I know she has this thing about having it made just the way she wants it and having her name on it guess I can't blame her.   Widow

RER Bows is just coming out with a slick 50's retro bow.  I've seen it and shot it and I will consider one for myself in the near future.  It is super smooth and fast.  Their website hasn't been updated yet with pictures of the new model, but I'm sure if you contacted Kevin, he would be happy to send pics.

Why not check into getting her the real thing?  There are tons of 50's style bows that were made back then that are still going strong and will likely last another 50 years.

Not only that, but most can be had for much less than $500.

Here's one I build (no it's not for sale) the 50's bows were the inspiration and I did take a few artistic libertys with the design, Bamboo Backed Walnut and an Osage belly.
Enjoy.    (http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh216/quartermoonlongbows/IMG_0531.jpg)

Debbie and I have a deal (her deal    :)   ).  I can buy her a bow and she will shoot with me but I can't coach her.  can't give her any tips.  have to let her shoot her arrows in peace.  she is 5'2".  wanted a one piece bow light in the hand and easy to draw.

I got her a Black Mountain Sheepeater Spirit.  She has been shooting for 5 yrs and does not have a good forum but she has a consistant (but bad form) form.  she is a gapper from the get go and not a bad shot.

the bow fits her very well......just don't tell her to roll her elbow down, her wrist in, her shoulder out, and her drawing elbow in line with the string, and don't tell her to open her stance a few degrees and you will enjoy shooting with her.     :)     after the first fews shots of the day she can do a pretty fair job of getting the arrow in or close to the kill zone.  Bow is 28#@26"  we have got some redline 1000s trimmed to tune.  she is a lot of fun to shoot with but can get pretty competitive.  She doesn't like to be out shot    :)

I don't think Debbie will out shoot ya but she will keep ya on your toes  :)

Debbie's "little snack and cake" black mountian sheepeater spirit.  may not be exactly a 50's recurve but has a grip that some ladies like a lot better.  the rest of the bow is right  :)

Here's a 59 Kodiak reproduction bow made by Scott Reed at Vintage Works that's a great looker, excellent shooter, and won't break the bank.

How 'bout John McCullough's Fifty-niner?
Excellent bowyer!! I've got one of his Griffins and I'm on his list, when my name comes up it might be a Fifty-niner for me...
