Title: Checkering Sources???
Post by: fido dog on January 03, 2010, 05:07:00 AM
I've got a gorgeous JV Outback that I would like to have checkered. I live in a hot climate and sweat a bunch for a skinny guy.

Any suggestions?? =0)

I had the grip on my Stahl takedown checkered by a local gunsmith years ago, best thing I did to give me that secure grip especially in hot weather.

I had Dave Windauer checker a Brackenbury Quest for me a couple of years ago.  He does a great job.  His website is in the sponsor section too.

If I'm not mistaken, Dave sends his work out to Sherry Abraham, could be wrong though. Sherry used to checker for Kimber when they were in Oregon. Another source that I've personally used is ahlmans.com, they mainly checker gun stocks but I have had a Shawnee riser done by them that turned out nice, especially for the money.

I'm pretty sure Beth told me Dave is doing the checkering himself now.
