Is there any Carolineans making the drive to Kalamazoo. It has been four years since I have been but thinking about that drive. I do not want to drag my wife along again. It is about 11 hours for us.
How many of you drive and how long does it take you. Am I the only crazy one to drive that far?
I don't think you're the only crazy one. We have an addiction, and in January Kalamazoo is the best fix we can get!
My drive is much shorter from WI (5 hours?) But I can't avoid going through Chicago to get there and that adds enough frustration to make it seem like 11 hours!
Hope to see you there - stop by my booth and say hello! :wavey:
About 6 hours if the weather is not too bad. No way to avoid the edge of Chicago from here either - its always a cluster.
Kzoo is a wonderful expo. I spend as much time visiting friends as I do viewing and shopping. The last couple of years I even managed not to buy a bow but doubt if that streak will last as Northern Mist has been calling my name.
Whip, bring some hats in XL, my fedora is getting worn and a back up is in order.
Love to go with ya Stalker but don't think I can manage to get away. Made the haul quite a few times when I used to go visit, moved from Michigan in '83, just haven't been in awhile.
This will be our 1st time going. Google maps says it takes 8 hours but it will go fast. 3-4 bowhunters can tell a lot of lies......I mean stories. :smileystooges:
Chris, I have not heard from Lewis,(Deer Dog) in a week or so. I know he has not been.
I'll be looking forward to seeing you guys there!!
It's so cool to hear how far some of you are driving from, hope to have a big turnout this year.
I made the 10 hour drive last year, ALONE. It was a long boring ride, but very worth it. I'm trying to talk my wife into tagging along this year. We'll see...Mike
Mapquest says 6 hours for me.
Dave
mooseman, been there on the solo drive. Are you in Schuykill Co? If you end up running solo, I'd like to hook up with you. Email sent.

That is a graet trad event to go to. I got stuck up there last year in a heck of a lake effect snow storm. Sure was pretty though!

This will be trip no. 5 for myself and hunting buddy. We plan on bringing a new trad guy with us this year... love to watch the newcomers drool. The drive for us is about 7hrs.
12 hours for me...alone as always. Nobody can stand me for that long at one stretch. It's not a bad trip unless it snows about a foot.
I was coming back a few years ago and they shut down the interstate because of the snow in Indiana.
Always a great time. Almost seven hours for us.
I think we should plan a trip Stalker for next year and get the old Deerdog up to Michigan!
Here`s to a safe trip for everyone!
What are the exact dates of this shindig?
Try to get Deerdog to go. I know he would be in heaven. I can drive the dually.
When and Where is this thing going on? I live 45 minutes from K-zoo and would love to go.
Corn stalker. Check out the Trad Events forum.
I might be there this year again. With a couple new guys.
Found it. Thanks 4runr.
I am one excited newbie.
Stop by the St. Joe River Bows booth Cornstalker and say hi!! I should be there mostly plus the MBH booth or the MLA booth.
I think it takes us about 6 hours to get there.
See you all there.
Bill
I am one of the luckier ones. Only 3 hours for me. Bob
ok, dont shoot me.... i would love to attend something like this event. BUT, what is there thats so amazing as to make people drive 12hrs???
i would have to say i would limit myself to about a 4 hr drive and thats max!!
does anyone have pics of this show??
gaff
It's the people you cross paths with more than the event itself. I'd love to try to go to reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones I've gotten to "know" online...
Nice facility, lots of top trad archery businesses, and some really, really fine folks. That's what may make me drive 6 hours.
Daryl
Corn Stalker, you've got to pay attention, man! How could one live so close to the show and not know about it?? Oh, I just saw.....you're a newbie. Well, you won't be one in February!!!
just talked to jsimon, and we will both be making our first trip to kalamazoo, just wish it wasn't such a long drive :goldtooth:
LOL! Yeah Portland is quite the distance!! How far out of Charlotte are ya?
I'd like to go again but that would be a dang long drive by yourself! about 6 hours from here. Jason

i live about 15 or maybe 20 minutes north of Charlotte, I work in the Charlotte area quite a bit
Arwin, we gotta meet up. I'll be coming down Saturday for the day, should be there early afternoon.
Mapquest says 6.5 hours for us to get to Kzoo. I have been there several times but that was a few years ago. Booked the motel room last night. Always a good time. ;)

I should be there all weekend at the St. Joe booth. Come over and fling some arrows with me. :)
Just made hotel reservations. My first expo.
7.5 hours from Southern Illinois (considered by the locals as a seperate state). :saywhat:
TTT for the nomads!!!
Look forward to seeing a bunch of you at the expo this year and I want to thankyou all for supporting it and traviling for the weekend
This will be my 2nd time there and am looking forward to renewing old contacts...my two sons and I are flying 2,000 miles across country and then renting a car and driving 4-5 hrs but it is worth it to me after meeting some of the outstanding people last time...Bob Morrison, John Havard and Larry, Tim Cosgrove. It is agreat atmosphere and the Saturday "buzz" is great fun!!
hour and a half from me cant wait
Woj,
I'm lucky like you. About an hour, depending on snow.
I'm planning on heading down friday to see Cherokee Slim and his quivers why he's fully stocked.
Steelforce was there last year, but I don't see them on the booth list. I wanted to get a pack of 190gr Phat Heads if they have a booth.
I'm planning on suffering through a 107 mile drive. I'll have to pass by 3 Rivers both going and on the way back.
107 miles??? That's gravy :) I do 89 one way to work everyday. I got about 600 miles :)
Coming up from New Athens Il... First timer.
We are making the trip from Mississauga, ON Canada ... I think it's about 7 hours for us. We will drive Friday night to a hotel near 3 Rivers Archery ... hit 3 Rivers in the morning and then head to the show.
Map Quest says 14 hrs, I dont think I will make it this year
For those going to the show I would be happy to provide any assistance I can while you are here. Just shoot me a PM or e-mail, and I will give you my number. I would be glad to do what I can if you have any problem come up while you are in town and need some help. However, I will not bail you out of jail if you have been bad so don't call for that. Car trouble, recommendations on local info, directions and such is not a problem. Ok if you do need to be bailed out of jail I can probably do that, but you have to arrange for the bail bond. :D
If it was a lot warmer out I would let a bunch of you camp out in my yard or in the barn if you were up for it.
