Just when I thought I was cured from buying new bows.... BAM! The fellas at BW bring out this baby! :banghead:
So... who hase taken the dive for a new one of these bows?
ak.
looked at it on their website! Very Intrested :readit:
Here are a few pictures of mine. I live close to the Blackwidow Shop. I have been shooting a prototype for a few months. I just received my new PCH a coupls of weeks ago. It is 58" 47lbs @ 28" - Brazilion Rosewood and Curly Maple. No Red Glass (Riser or Tips). Wedges are also Brazilion Rosewood. Brazilion Rosewood Veneers on the Belly and Curly Maple Veneers on the Back. I also worked with Roger and Toby to have the Oval in-lays placed inside the Brazilon wood overlays. Looks pretty unique against the curly maple veneers. I really like this bow as it allows me to shoot a 2" shorter bow with the same amount of working limbs.
Thanks - BowTopps (Doug)

BW was kinda my first trad bow...wasn't really into the blk/white/red stripes, as I am more into "natural" colored bows. That being said, GREAT looking bow! My brother will probably order one, he has two BW's already!
Thats a nice lookig Widow, beautiful woods!
That is a NICE looking bow, and check out them matching airres.
Al, I think you need to get one and then post the pictures when you open the box! Sharp bows. Really like the 2-tone on the X's.
very nice looking bow
Nothing like packing a piece of furniture to kill game. That is a beautiful weapon.
niceeeeeeeeeeee
jer bear
Wow! Love my widow, but that one is very nice. I think the new PCH will be a big hit and will look forward to the reviews. With the all wood look it makes one dream.
Gee.... thats not helping me much when you post away pics like that! Hahaha... I think..!
ak.
Love your choice of woods and their combination, vary unique looking, vary sharp, I like it.
Thanks for all the compliments guys - I am very happy with it.
AK - You know you are going to have to go fot it now :o )
BowTopps - Doug
Hmmmm - not sure why that came out that way. It was supposed to be a smily face - Ha Ha! :)
Doug those arrows look like some of Larry Maggards work?
Mike
Very nice
Nice indeed...love the brazilian rosewood...Just like a fine guitar...
Nice,
Looking forward to trying own out.
Dave
I like the arrows!
BowTopps, that is probably the nicest looking widow I have ever seen- I had a beautiful Bolivan rosewood that I recently sent south, which was the second nicest. Beautiful bow
BowTopps, that has to be the prettiest Widow that I've ever seen!!
I really like it,it is on my wishes list.Is it much lighter than a PSA X?
Oh no - nononono! colud anyone forbid BW works making these temptations!
thats awsome
I love the look of that rosewood, think that will be on my next widow.
I need a fix for my addiction and have already talked to Roger about one. I would want a X model to match my 58" sax bocote. I like the fact that I can go to a 56" and stay with the same wouking limb as my 58". The only thing I'm afraid of is I may like it better than my sax for hunting. Widow
Wow! That is a beauty. Toby, once again, created a masterpiece.
BowTopps that is a great looking bow.
Very nice looking stick. I have heard some say that BW's are a little on the noisy side. Whats your take on it
I wish you guy's would quit puttin these bows on here,I thought I had it figured out when I put copperhead skins on my osage psx then someone had to put a leopardwood/olive ash on here that I had to have,AN NOW THIS...When's the madness going to Stop.... My only hope is that these short risers are interchangable with the other limbs,(any idea?) Awesome Widow BowTopps
Sorry wvtradbow,no way!!!We have to buy some more staff.Felix
What kind of draw length will these new bows accept.
The longest bow they make in the PCH is 60". That being said they'll handle the longest of draw lengths.
BowTopps that bow is stunning!
Patrick
Wow! What a wonderful-lookin' bow!
That is sweet looking. If any of you are looking at ordering a bow with the Brazilian rosewood, I would not wait to long as this stuff is not available very often and when it does pop up it carries a nice price tag with it.
I wish I knew in Oct when I ordered my PSAX that these were available. I would have ordered one. I didn't ask and they didn't say anything. I thought they weren't available until next summer. VERY nice!
Looks good, what type wood is the riser?
John K

Anyone know where the pic of that combo is?
Hey Guys - Sorry I have been out of touch a bit lately. Thanks for all the compliments on my PCH. I am very happy with it.
Mike - You have a good eye for arrows. I actually made these up with Larry's help. I live close to Larry and he was nice enough to walk me thru making a couple dozen. His wood arrows are the best I have ever seen.
Two Tracks - Brazillion Rosewood is hard to get at times. BW does charge a premium for this wood as well.
Jersyboy - I too have heard the Blackwidow Bows are a bit noisy comments as well. I personally can get mine very quiet but I do take my time getting them tuned properly.
Caccitore - THey bow is light (which I really like) - There is no phenolic in the bow either. The limb wedges are Rosewood as well.
Thanks;
BowTopps - Doug
Ok I'll add that I shot one of the prototypes about a year ago while at the widow shop.
Shot Great!
wow i dont care for the looks of most bws but that is one fine looking bow
Terry, I think this might be the bow that refered to it zebra and olive ash.
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=079882#000000
Terry, here is a pic of a leopardwood and olive ash Black Widow PAX. I saw a takedown in the same combo at Kalamazoo last year and it was a very nice combo...Mike
(http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee104/mooseman76/00small32479180.jpg)
I should add the takedown I saw had a solid leopardwood riser (well, still laminated like all widows, but no olive ash in the handle). The leopardwood has a really neat grain that doesn't seem to show up well in pics...Mike
Thanks!

Agreed, at least for the TD models!
And I do love the Olive Ash on the BW posted for Terry!
I saw a RER with Zircote and Olive Ash here once, never can forget the sight!
I like the PCH X BW has on their site!!! That's how I'm ordering mine!!!!
Nice looking bow Doug, way to go!!!! :clapper:
My wife is gonna kill me, but I gotta get one of these ordered !
Mines a week out but!! I had them get green action wood rather then gray or oak. I also had a pair of skins added and had them copy my high wrist Schafer riser. Should be interesting.
Wapitimike1,post some pics when your hungry hands will be on that bow.Olive ash is indeed a very nice veneer. For sure those PCH are best seller.
Gotta get me one ordered, but can't decide what to get.
Wish I would have had a camera yesterday. Lefty Fred and his son came to our 3D shoot with his son's new PCH...Brazillian Rosewood riser and Tiger Myrtle limbs...STUNNING!
SWEET BOW. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Well, I made the plunge with a lot of begging from my knees to the boss but, only ordered the PCH III. Couldn't get her to bend more for the exotic woods. Either way, I've got one now on order! :D
What length PCH bow did you go with?
Steel, if your question is directed to me, I went with a 58" bow. I have a 29" draw and BW says 58" is good out to a 30" draw length. Now the wait! :banghead:
I know your pain I am waiting for my PCH right now also!
Once the PCH comes in, the boss says I can keep my PLX and PMAII but, all the rest of my bows has to go. That's about 12 bows going up on the market soon. As you can tell, I am keeping the 3 best ones. :D
I'm half way there. Got the limbs from my Shawnee sold (thanks Mike!!). Now the riser and I'll be placing my order!!!!
I bought a PCHIII from Crash, 56"AMO 44@28". All I can say is WOW. Wannabe1 you will LOVE it!
there not just sitting around at B.W..
Susan, thanks for the input. I can hardly wait. Mine is going to be 58", 50# @ 29". Should be me all around go to bow with my PLX as a special hunts bow.
Anyone else recieve one lately?
I'm sending back the demo today.... :( :( :(
I'm going to shoot some in Kalamazoo tomorrow.... :) :) :)
Terry- Have ya made the decision to order one?
mooseman76- Post your thoughts on it when you get back!
I'll be trying out the demo when the make a 56"er up. (See BW customer service confirmed post!)
Have fun in Kzoo guys!!!
R.J.
Uh.......yeah. :D
Terry, what are the specs of your new bow? Mike
I'm going to kzoo this weekend and I'm
going to try the psa and pch both 60"
I'm unsure of a 14" riser.
Mine should be here at the first to middle of next week. Can't wait. Toby called last Friday said it was going into paint this week. If the kalazoo does not delay it.
How long is the wait for the PCH,now?
Beautiful bow. I just ordered one, but i was on the fence on whether or not to get the olive ash limbs, or the standard graybark. I just went with the Graybark.
QuoteOriginally posted by Mike Bolin:

Honduras Rosewood Riser with 58# Olive Ash limbs and 64# Tiger Myrtle limbs. Both make a 56" bow.
Wouldn't it be great if you could order the riser and use your SA limbs on it?
Just dreaming!!
What a work of art. Gorgeous.
Great Terry, remember to post some pics for the people.
I'm getting a new SAX in a week or two, or I would probably get the desire to order one of these. Nice looking bow. I had a great shooting Fedora Extreme 54", with a 12" riser, until the bottom limb collapsed. Still waiting for replacement. The shorter riser didn't seem to hamper the performance of the bow.
Terry, What is your draw length?
Tarz....if you need to part with one of those 60" MOAB's to pay for your new toy give me call....LOL
Nah...wont be parting with any MOABS. :D
Rusty....27.5
Be honest I never really cared for BWs but that is an AWESOME good lookin bow!
Honduras Rosewood Riser - Olive Ash limbs

Brazilian Rosewood Riser - Tiger Myrtle Limbs
(http://www.archeryconsulting.com/pictures/complete-nrw.jpg)
Those are sexy.
Man, that rosewood and olive ash is a beautiful combination of woods!!!!!!!! PUUUUUURDY!!!
Terry- Thanks. I was just curious if I would be pushing it by going to a 56". I'll try the demo and see how it goes. If not then 58' it is.
Those wood choices are awesome Terry!!
A friend of mine brought in his Hummingbird recurve in all Bocote. That looked awesome too! Now I think my head is going to explode!!!!! Too many choices.
Rusty....I did draw it to 28 to see, and it was smooth with no pinch....but you'll have to decide for yourself. They do recommend the 56"er for up to 28 inches.
Thanks Terry. Yeah, thats why I am gonna try it. Hope it will work. Make sittin in a treestand or a blind a little nicer.
Nice picks Terry I also ordered two 54" PCH-X's one Tiger Myrtle limbs with a Zircote Riser no red glass and a 54" Curly Narra limbs/Riser without the phenolic in that one. Mine are do in Feb may the wait pass by fast.
Steel- will need to post up the zircote when it comes in!!
Beautiful! Guess I am out of the loop. . .What is the deal with PCH? What makes this "new" in design, etc.?? Checked out the website but not sure the uniqueness.
Thanks
Dan
New design for shorter lengths and no pinch at normal draws....I think that's it...but there may be even more. Lighter/shorter riser maybe as well.
Terry, were you shootin the AD's from the loaner. Need to pick up some arrows for my demo and thought thats what you shot.
How did you have yours set up?
Dan the big thing for me about the new PCH is I like short 54" 3 piece bows and the smaller 14" riser makes it lighter mass weight than any other 3 piece Widow.I like that combo I am shooting a pair of 54" 3 piece Morrison Cheyennes recurves right now so the PCH just fits my personal taste. Alot of guys like longer bows so the PCH isn't for everyone. Rusty I was shooting AD lites in my 47lb PSA they flew like darts with 125gr to 200gr points. The Carbon Express 150's also fly great both arrows cut to 29.25" length.
I got it....strung it...used their nock point that came on it....and shot DEAD NUTS from the 1st shot with the AD Trad and 175 grain Judo I had in the truck.
Soooooo.... our man Terry is now a BW man huh! Good for you mate, naturally we'll be wanting pics!
ak.
I'll set up and take a few for sure.
T
Well, a trip to Nixa next week. I talked to Terry for a while about his new bow, and talked myself into ordering one. I know it will be 55 at 28", 56" bow with the Asbell grip. I can't decide on the woods. I guess a trip to a Widow Works, for their advice on woods, is in order. In first place is the greybark with the crossgrain limbs (bamboo). But those other woods sure look good. If you guys were picking woods, what would you get??? Help me spend my money!!
This is killn' me I was all set for a PSA 60"
now they got this PCH :banghead:
QuoteOriginally posted by Irish:

You can say that Mel....without providing a pic!!!!
Its against the rules!!!!!
Yeah...I just added that rule!!! :D
I bought a 56" PSA-X crossgrain graybark last Jan no Red glass in the riser It looked real pretty and was great camo in the woods also.

i was just lookin at a PCH on the LW.. its a exotic wood ( not sure which one) with a grey bark strip down the middle. looks amazing, and i would have never thought to combine the two!!
the guy is a member here, so i hope he posts a pic. go check it out..
gaff
Steel it looks great. If my Greybark were not that big shooter I would sell it for buying one as yours.
Cody, I still can't believe you parted way with that one! It's a looker! Jr.
Don't worry Jr I have replacement Widows on the way :D . I would have never sold that bow it was a great shooter but I wanted the 54" bow length(my Favorite length)the new PCH offered and to up my draw weight to about 50/51 Lbs.
Steel, whats your draw length?
Im going to get a PCH X and I want the 54 but they recomend the 56 for my draw.
Im in the same boat as everyone else...............what kind of wood
Planing the 8 hour trip south to BW to help me decide :D
Wish I could go there also. Long drive from upstate SC.
I draw about 27" maybe a touch less. I was shooting the 56" PSA super smooth all the way back and spoke with a 54" PCH owner who also draws 27" he said he had no issue with the 54" PCH draw wise.
I draw 27 1/4 but realy should be 27 1/2 to 3/4
I shoot a 50 incher right now and dont see how a 54" would have anymore finger pinch than what Iv got right now.
Is there any other reason that they recomand the draw lenghts that they do besides finger pinch?
Ya Rusty that would be a haul :biglaugh:
Wow... that pic of the Greybark on page 7 is a dandy one!
I'd drop into BW factory but it's a long swim and longer walk from the east coast of aussie!
ak.
I went up the Kzoo expo last nite and shot 2 of the 5 LH PCH's they had, they are very nice bows.
Woooowwww,
hard not to fall under the pider's charm
David,5 lefties! Good selection,so wath did you like or dislike more on them?
I like them all their was nothing to dislike, other than I don't have any $ to buy one. Trying to sell a Griffin to fund one.
Up for MOOSE
Per Terry's request here are some more pics of Cody's (Steel's) old crossgrain PSA-X which has found a very happy home here in Montana. Great bow, Thanks again Cody.

This cross grain greybark has an incredible natural camouflage,I really like it.Take care where you are going to let it down, easy to loose.
That cross grain is one of the nicest Widow's I've ever seen. I guess its a curse to my checking account that I live only a few hours from there. I think a road trip in in my future.
Here are a couple pics of wapitimike1's "greenbark" PCH...Mike

These new PCH's have sure brought out the best wood choices I've ever seen in a Widow.
Dusty
That hurt's to see I already miss that crossgrain graybark! My new PCH better get here fast so I can start sleeping at night again.
Still counting down!
The crossgrain graybark is my favorite wood of all those I have seen.Kinda wished I had ordered that color but didnt want to spend the additional cash.

Gentleman,Just got mine PCHX Olive Ash limbs & Bocote riser 58" 51# @ 28" I draw 28 3/4". All my sa & tf are 60" Went with 58"it shoot the same as the 60" far as split finger feel. my brace ht was 9" on others. What is working for guys? AS for as brace ht &nocking point?Be glad to pic if anyone want them Thanks John T.
John- I'd like to see pics of that wood combo!!!
A Bolivian Rosewood riser with the Asbell grip, Tiger Myrtle limbs(56" bow)will be making it's way to Kansas City in about 9 weeks!! I got a chance to shoot and fondle a few PCHs at UMB last weekend. I firmed up my wood choices at that time, bow has been ordered for a couple weeks. A set of Hush Puppies, and a "sure grip" and that bad boy will be ready for turkeys! I already know the AD Trads, cut 29" with 200 grain on the working end will fly like darts.

The loaner I used was 56"s and had a brace of 8 inches to the front of the string.
WHERE ARE THE PICS SIR!!!!!!!
If you were going to skin a PCH X with Brazilion Rosewood which skins would you guys go with.
Do yall think copperhead skins would look good.
I think copperhead would look good with the Brazilian Rosewood. What limb veneers will you have? I heard that copperhead looks better over lighter veneers...Mike
Not sure yet maybe Osage.
IMNSHO, osage is the only wood that brings out the color in a copperhead skin.
Anything else doesn't do it justice. Just my opinion.
Otto
I have a PSA X osage with copperheads that is stunning so i will probably go with the osage.
I think it would go well with the Braz. Rosewood, probabbly be a good contrast.
They look really nice together. That is what the 50th anniversary bow was made out of. Don't know why I didn't think of that combo. I loved the look of the ann. bow, but like the takedown better...Mike
Here is a couple pics of mine never thought i would find a bow to replace my psax but think i have. This is my first year of serious trad huning killed 17 deer and missed one I am blessed with some great friends and great places to hunt. 1 kill with the robertson fatal styk and then 16 with the psax. And oct1 to jan31 deer season does not hurt either. I bought the robertson and the widow at same time but did not recieve widow until first week of season. I began shooting it and there is just something about the widow it seems to shoot alot harder. So i wanted to try the pch for a perfect stand hunting turkey hunting bow and it has exceded my expectations. Here is a few pics crossgrain greybark 53@28 56"

Sweet! And 17 deer in one season! Wow!
Here is the best one i took this year with the exception of one other buck with a compound at 17 yards the scored 161 7/8 I am still sick about.
Nice bow nice buck WOW - love it
jer
17 deer in one season, 15 does with BW, one buck scoring in the high 130's- low 140's taken with BW. One buck taken with compound scored 161 7/8. Hell of a year no matter what you shot them with! Congrats Longbow338 you have a great place to hunt!
Just received the demo. Guess I'm having the same experience Terry had with his demo. Strung it, used the nock set they had in place, nocked up a 560gr. arrow, and was grouping @ 10 yards in my basement. So far it's everything the guys have been saying about this bow I am experiencing! Will be putting it thru it's paces this weekend.
(And sucking up to the wife as well!!!! LOL!)

You have three days to make a big hit on the next Hallmark holiday. Good luck!
RUSTY - pics pics
Longbow 338 - How did you ever get 17 deer tags?
That's amazing but what's more amazing is that is was possible to have that many tags.
How many freezers you got?
Jer
Jerry, the wood combo of the demo is a little bit to be desired. The riser is Birdseye maple and the limbs are Graybark. Didn't feel the need to take and post pics. There are alot of better looking pics already out there.
In the post above was about a dozen arrows worth of shooting. After dinner spent a couple more hours on and off shooting.
And only shooting trad for a couple years now I will tell you what I at least think I am feeling about this bow.
First I love the looks of the design. First time I ever seen a Widow in person. Wasn't to sure if I would like the looks or not. But I do.
As far as the performance goes I will compare it to the bow I got rid of, a 64" Morrison Shawnee Dakota. 56@28. This one is 56", 57@28. My draw being around 28" I knew this was probably pushing it. I think thats why I started to loose that lovin' feeling with it. I just sensed that this was just way to short. Started shootin' like crap.
The grip is an asbell. First time I've ever tried that grip. I have to say that grip fit my hand better than my old bow did.
As far as the draw weight, it wasn't near as good of draw as the shawnee was. Like it was alot heavier draw weight than my other bow. Again I am guessing the length might be the culprit there.
Any one feel free to comment on if I am correct or not on what I am experiencing. I am no way giving up on this just yet. I do like it and I think if I dropped the weight down about 5 lbs. or so and went up to a 58" or even the 60" things would be a 100% better.
Was really hoping for a shorter bow to hunt with. Even going to 60" would be better than the 64" I had.
But I guess thats why they have the demo program!!!
Rusty
I have owned a couple Blackwidows. My favorite has been an early SAIII. However the new PCH that Roger, Toby and the gang built for me is awesome. Plan on shooting a few hogs and maybe a gator with it this year! In my opinion it is one fine shooting piece of art.
Wow i might have to get one of those PCH Like that gray bark cross grain. :banghead:
I have a near 28" draw and I was wondering about it myself. He even asked me if I wanted the 58".
I'm hoping it will be fine for me too...NO try before you buy program for me...jer

I shot a 54, 56, 58, and 60 at Kzoo a couple weeks back. The 54 felt way too short to me. I could shoot it well, but I just didn't feel right. The 56 was ok, but didn't really shine for me. I loved the 60. I draw 29 1/4". I will have to try the 58" again. I should have shot a 58" more, but just couldn't no pick up the 60" bows every time I shot one after trying them all.
Jerry Wald
There are no tags in Ms for residents one of the places I hunt is 2000acres and we are on the dmap program and harvest 45 does a year and only a couple people in the club actually shoot does but they have to be killed. I also donate some meat and people i work with do not hunt but love deer sausage.
WOW gotta love that....what lamp did you rub to get that deal...tee hee.
that's great that ppl that don't hunt love the meat though.
Can you send it north please :biglaugh:
jer
My experiences with the PCH pretty much mirror xtrema's. The 54" was too short for me. The 56" handled my draw and didn't really have any pinch, but it didn't feel right. I fell in love with the 58". The 60" was good too, but the 58" felt best to me. Not surprising as I shot all of their bows last year as well and the 62" PMA and 60" PSA really shined for me. The 58" PCH has the same length limbs as these other bows so it makes sense that it really works well for me. I have a 29" draw length.
Rusty, I think the BW bows have a little more weight up in the beginning of the draw because of the higher brace height and may be why the bow felt heavier to you. I always felt that BW had a little more preload, but once I got used to it, I actually prefer it...Mike
Jerry ....I answered your email....
If you need a 56" bow...I think your draw will be fine....if you don't nessesarily need the short 56"s....and are concerned...then go with the 58.
Thanks Mike.
Im with ya Rusty, I have a 27.5 draw and I trid a 54"er 50 @ 28 with an asbell grip and I just coldnt shoot it so their sending me a 56"er 45# at 28 with a standerd grip to try......I hope its the ticket :archer:
Terry I talked with Roger and he thinks the 56" would work for me, but that the 58" would be smoother....so I have decided to go with the 58"
This is what he sent me:
Hey Jerry,
The 56" will be more maneuverable in a hunting situation and the 58" will feel slightly more comfortable shooting. When strung a 58" bow will be about 54.5" from tip to tip. Let me know if you want to change the length.
Have a great day.

So at 54.5" strung that's pretty shot too.
Jer
I havent shot a PCH yet but have shot a few widows and if your draw lenght is right at the end of the recemended for a bow, go up 2" and it will pull like butter, it will almost feel like you took 5# off. At least that has been my experience
Cool thanks for the input Rick...I really rely on the gang for info...i know terry is probably dreading another email from me.
It's just we do everything by email here or you check sites out and order things site unseen. You can't even by field tips here or strings and NOTHING trad.
So it's you ppl I really heavy on and the great ppl that are sponsors.
Thanks everyone for all your help so far.
