Title: Double Bull Darkhorse Recurve Blind??
Post by: 8leg-lover on January 02, 2010, 02:11:00 PM
Any of you guys own one of these? I'm thinking very seriously about buying one but have not been able to actually put my hands on one. Looking for feedback. Pros/Cons??

Thanks in advance.

I don't own one but I have been coveting one.  They have the normal hight (not recurve) version set up at the local Gander Mtn and I like it a lot.  I already have a pop up blind but am seriously thinking of jumping on one of these.

I have the regular DarkHorse and have no problem shooting 58 and 60 inch recurves out of the blind. If I had the opportunity I would probably gone with the taller model just in case I want to shoot a Longbow.
Great Blinds you can't go wrong with a Double Bull

I've shot a 66" longbow out of a matrix 360 which I believe is on the same frame as the darkhorse.

I had a T5 recurve and it was a bit hard to set up.

I now have a standard Dark Horse and it goes up much easier.

I am 6'2' and shoot a 60" recurve out of it "no problem" but I do shoot from 1 knee with a stool under my butt.

I have the Darkhorse in the recurve model and love it. I shoot a 62" longbow out with no problems.
Well worth the price IMO.

I own the Double Bull Darkhorse and would recommend it highly.

room for 2 and I have practiced with everything from 52" to 66" and I am 6'4"...

Also I had an "accident" with it rolling over in a high wind because I didn't stake it, and left it unattended. One of the poles broke out of the hub and I contacted DB Blinds and they sent me replacement parts immediately, for free, no questions asked !

I have the standard Dark Horse Matrix and can shoot my 62" recurve from it. Although the 62" is tight my 60" bows work better. I do have to kneel to shoot both length bows. If I was to buy another I would buy the recurve model with the carbon poles.

I now have Earl E. Nov's T5 Recurve model - and he has my Dark Horse.  Don't think I gained much going to the recurve model.  I shoot 64" & 66" longbows out of the standard models and have always had plenty of room as long as I cant the bow.  I still perfer the T5's to the Dark Horse.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'll go ahead and order the recurve model with the carbon poles. I'll be shooting bows from 56" to 66". I do cant my bow but not that much. Plus according to the advertising, it only weighs one more pound than the standard model. I already have the Double Bull Magnum Shooting Stool so it should be a good combo.

I have a Matrix 360 recurve model and there's plenty of room to shoot up to 64".
