I am shooting a Thunderstick II Longbow that is without a doubt the finest Longbow that I have ever shot. The problem is that it's 62" length can be a bit cumbersome up in the treestand. I am now looking at the MAG in either 56" or 58". I draw 27 to 28 and the draw weight that I'm going for will be 55-60. I really want to order the 56" but not sure about that short length. Help
I am looking forward to the answers on this post as well. Thanks for asking Mr. Davenport.
about two weeks ago i got five new bows in a trade deal from a fella on tradgand and one of them was the thunderstick mag 56" 51# @28" and it has quickly become my favorit out of nine trad bows. All i can say is the military developed this technology for fighter pilot helmets but theirs cost about 1,000,000 bucks a pop. Where ever i look is where it goes my friend i love it, no stacking and smooth. Very quite also if you keep the brace heigth at the recomended 6.75-7.0 its a slammin machine
I've never shot a 56" model, but can tell you that my 58" Mag (54@28) draws very smooth to my 27" draw length. This one has become my go to bow for any place with remotely tight quarters.
I owned a 56"er. I have a 27" draw. The bow was a little smoker! Fast,Quiet, Smooth drawing. No stacking at all. It was 45#s @ 28"s so it was only 42#s for me. Seemed quicker than the other ones I shot that were longer. I would have kept her if it was a little heavier. I used it when I had a bum shoulder. Sold it to my Bud Recurve 50LBS. So it's still in the family so to speak. Great little bow! Gotta add everyone that shot it fell in love with it.
I shoot a 58 inch Mag and I have an honest 29 inch draw. No problems at all. I can't see the 56 incher being a problem for you but to be sure, I would give Jim Reynolds a call. He's a great guy and will answer any questions you have.
Thanks for the feadback guys. Looks like it will be the 56".
You gonna need a new home for your Thunderstick II?
Just thinking...lol
God bless,Mudd
I shoot a 56" Mag at 27" draw. It is a fine shooting little bow. I use it mostly for hunting out of my pop-up, but it is an excellent treestand bow as well. Jim does great work.
Been shooting a 66 inch long bow for years out of a treestand AND a treesuit and never had a problem. Sometimes length is a state of mind.

When I had a 28" draw I didn't care for the 56", but the 58" was ok. The mag is a good bow, but I would shoot a MOAB over the mag. You can get them 58". For my draw of 30" the mag doesn't suit me, but for your draw it would work well. There are other short LB's I like better for longer draws.
Hey Mudd I'm keeping the Thunderstick II, in hopes I will one day get a chance to hunt elk and Black Bear from the ground. It's 62" length really casts an arrow well. If I ever do have a moment of stupidity (which I am prone to) you will be the first to get a shot at it, but it draws 64# at 28.
Whoa!! I thank you for the remembrance but I ain't man enough for that weight.. Maybe I'll grow some by the time that ever happens. Who knows I might be shooting a "hunerd pound Hill" by then.. Yeah! like that's gonna happen..lol
God bless and Happy new Year!
