Just received this one today; it's a 70's Bear Grizzly in near pristine condition. I had forgotten how smooth the 58" Grizzly was until lately. I don't know it's history, but it seems eager to make some more, so will give her a go this late season.....starting tomorrow. A few photos for your perusal:

dadgum, Mr. Stout...how many bows are you up to now? I'm sure it will enjoy the PA woods!
Beaut George! Always liked the Grizzly.
Good find George I get a 55# myself
I've got it's twin.Love to shoot it!
J.Cook, I sell most of them about as fast as I get them. I keep the ones that speak to me; this one is trying to. 8^).
I searched for a long time to find a really nice one with a grip that fit my hand. Finally found one at the ATAR several years ago. We have bonded quite nicely. :)
It looks just like yours George.
George, I have two just like that, they are smooth and good shooters. I do all my bowfishing with one of them, some days I can't miss with that bow
I have its slightly older (70or 71) cousin and love it. not quite in as good of shape as that one though
Yes, this poor working man owns one, too! 53lbs, bought from a fellow welder for $35.00! Had the spring arm quiver to boot.
My wife bought my first '70s Grizz, in 1985 for my Birthday. My son took his second deer with my latest Grizz! Gotta love'em!
Good shootin, Steve
Good looking, classic bow. I really like the simple lines and profile of the 58" Grizzly!
That is exactly what I started with. Still got it...still enjoy shooting it every now and then.
Mine is serial # KR01570.
George...PM sent
I can still vividly remember going to a Woolco store as a kid and there would just be a pile of grizzlys just like that in the hunting aisle. I'd run down there as soon as we got in the store and my mother would come get me when she was done. There were guns, bows ,knives and even traps, everything a young kid needed, a couple of those grizzlys found there way under our christmas trees over the years
Same as I just bought,I shot a little of everything and kept coming back to the grizzly...Great bow for a newbie like me...Mine looks just like that except where yours is brown wood on the riser mine is more black than brown.I love how it shoots, right where I look and the smooth draw and dead in my hand on release.
Another beautiful Bear bow!
Nice. I had one just like it a few years ago. Wish I kept it.
A friend of mine shot one in the early seventies and he loved it. I was shooting a Kodiak hunter at the time. I shot it a couple of times and really liked it. It's a keeper George! Ben
Great bow George.I have two of it's brothers. The one with the selway is my first bow.The other bow is my father's first bow, which I later used to take my first bow deer with.

Never noticed until now that it was marked 48#'s on the sight window. It's a 45# bow on the riser and I always thought it was until I saw that just now.Hmm.Unfortunately one of the limbs delamed on me,so she is a wall hanger now. Both bows are sacred to me and will never be sold.
Some good sentiment there vtmtnman.
Mine has an interesting mark on the shelf under the rug. It was marked 508. I am thinking that may have been the employee who last inspected the bow, but I'm not sure about that. It's done with white lettering...the same that was used to mark the weight above the shelf. This is the first that I have seen that kind of mark on the shelf itself.
Looks like my first bow, bought brand new at the local hardware store many years ago. Enjoy!
George, Thats the number of deer it will kill before the warranty goes out...lol.RC
I have one just like it. Its sweet to shoot
That is one sweet bow Mr. Stout! I might have to get myself a Grizz now!!
Very nice!
Never tire of seeing ol Bear bows.
Stay warm tomorrow George and good luck!
Nice looking Grizz, George. Usually the number under the plate is the actual draw weight, but 508 sounds pretty heavy to me, lol! Maybe the guy got confused and put his clock number there instead of the weight!
Just how cool is that? Way!! Thanks for sharing all of your pictures with the rest of us.
God bless,Mudd
Really nice George, gotta love those older Bears! :archer:
30coupe, I'm not talking about the mark under the plate...that one is 45. I'm talking under the rug, on the shelf itself. Never saw it before.
That is a beauty George.
nice bow george,i had several 58" griz, sold them
long ago and have regretted it ever since.
Had one just like it...I was not wise to sell it!
Josh
George, you have a superb Grizzly there. Enjoy it, and good hunting. I've regretted selling mine a few years ago. It was in mint to new condition, too.

I see. Nope, I've never seen that either. Usually there is nothing there, at least on the old Bears I have seen.
Sweet bow, o' Stout one!
George.....bows talk to you too. I bought an early Red Wing Hunter a few years back and it was pristine. Showed it to Rob Lee a Cloverdale and he said that it was a bow built by Bob in the early days in Houston and he wanted to buy it. Said his dad did not have any bows from back then and would like to have that one for the shop. So, it went home with him, but that bow stil talks to me from a distance, reminding me of the bows in the local hardware store of times long ago past.
Jerry
George, are you gonna try putting a D97 or other high performance string on this one? I know you have them on some of your other older bows. Do the Grizzlies get along with the high performance material strings very well?
Beautiful bow ya got there. I wouldn't hesitate to go after just about anything with that one. Be a great one for bowfishing as well.
That one sure is in good shape. I have a refinished 56-incher (1970?) that I use for bowfishing. It really fits the hand nicely.
Doug, I haven't fooled with it too much yet and need to look at string nocks and overlays before trying it for a long period. I did shoot it with the D97 for a few shots and it was actually very quiet. I will address that a shot or two at a time and see what transpires. 8^).
That is a beauty!!!
Best of luck with it George.
