Post by: lpcjon2 on December 30, 2009, 10:24:00 PM
Ok I have been diagnosed with the funds-r-low disease and would like any ideas you may have on home made hood covers for a back quiver. Thanks     :coffee:

I just tie an old camo handkerchief over my fletching...can't get much cheaper than that.

Love to hunt in a cold mist and have hunted in rain too many times. I cover my fletch with a towel or old shirt & even used a ballcap once. Your BQ will slip under your arm if it rains hard. Never had a fletch problem result.

kbetts, I was thinking to use a plastic zip lock and glue it inside of a scarf that I will sew to fit the outside of the bag.

See if you can find some scrap fleece at a fabric store, maybe plaid or camo and just sew up a bag type thing to cover your arrows, tie a shoe lace on it and to your quiver so it don't come off.

Used to use baby bottle inserts (plastic bags) and a rubber band.  Push the nock thru the bottom. If the rubber band is loose enough when you shoot the arrow the bottle insert comes off and lands about 5 feet in front of you.  Pick it up when you go recover your animal.  Looks a little funny though.

Take an old pair of camo pants and make a pair of summer "work shorts" out of them.

Then, take the cut off legs, turn them inside-out and sew the cut end shut. Turn them right side out and spray them down with water proofing,or rub them with beeswax.

You now have 2 waterproof fletching covers, and a pair of work shorts for knocking around in.

You can't get much more "thriftier" than that!!!!!
