Of late I have been shooting my recurves and had gotten confused about the proper brace height for my Dreamcatcher. The confusion was caused by the listing of different brace heights for differant years of manufacture. I called and got the number for the Howitt plant in Yakima. I had thought that the bow was made around 1996 and this was confirmed for me. The surprise came when I was told I had #13. That means I have bow #13 of the first year the Dreamcatcher was produced. Kinda made my day. I don't think I'll part with this one.
very cool! so the brace height was ?
I spoke with Larry Hatfield and he said that the brace might be anywhere from 7 1/2 to around 8 1/4. He also said that the bow should feel dead in the hand at the shot. I have some tuning to do.
The Dreamcatcher is one of the finest one piece recurves known to men. There is one with english yew in the limbs floating around ou there somewhere made for me and I sold it :knothead: :knothead: :knothead: . Love to get that one back.
I had one back in the mid '90s too. I know that they had just come out with them. I vaguely remember a brace height around 8".
They are a very nice bow. I took my first trad deer with the dreamcatcher.
One of the best I have owned!
HeyDeerman:I believe I have your old Dreamcatcher.Signed by Larry Hatfield. It is a sweet shooting bow.
It look like I now have the last Dream Catcher ever made.
My DC limb split, Martin just made me a new one. Never even been strung yet. I am thinking I may leave it that way.
I am guessing that no bow goes out the door without having been strung, checked for tiller and weighed / measured for draw weight. Can't really do that any other way than to string it up.
But a brand new bow is sure nice.
Does anybody know. . did the Dream Catcher replace the Super Diablo ? Looks like the same bow but with a bit of a different layout to the riser.

Chuck,
Yes the DC replaced the SD.
Grayseas,
Don't worry, Martin will be making Dream Catchers for a while.
I think this one will be around like the Hunter.
I was thinking so. Thanks for confirming
ChuckC
KPaul,
I sent you a PM.
Also confirmed in my conversation with the Howitt plant is that the Dreamcatcher has the same lines as the Super Diablo in its final configuration. I asked because to me also they looked like the same bow with differant woods.
I have old one too. The "instructions" with it said brace height at 8.5 to 9. I got it set just past 8.5. It does not shoot well below that.
