Actually there are two days left, but I have to work and won't be able to get out.
As I posted before it has been years, since I've been able to hunt, and it was nice to get out this year. A little disappointing because I didn't get anything. However, every time I went out, I loved it.
I had a great time just being out, and working on rusty skills. I saw deer every time out, and if I had a 30 yd range instead of a 20 yd range I would have had a couple of does. For that matter, if I had bush penetrating arrows, I'd have had a nice 10 point. The only actual shot I had (in range, and clear) was on a button buck which according to the rules of the land I hunt can't be taken.
As they say, wait til next year.
Same here Bartcanoe, I'm a little further west than you and my season ended already with no bloody arrows in the quiver this year. Had a blast though and I'm already planning for next year.
Here in NW Florida we get to hunt until Feb 28. So I have 2 months left, which is good because I have not seen a "shooter" buck yet (6 pts or better is our Club rule). But I have had several spikes and 4 pts within 15 yards.
Comon up to jersey the seasons in till jan 31st and the bag limits are unlimited doe and 1 buck if you buy the buck stub. If you look at nj fish and wildlife.com you will see we have about 750,000 acres of public land. The delaware watergap nat. park is i believe about 35,000 acres with some of the highest deer population in the state, somewhere near 50-60 per sq. mile but watch out for the bears there are plenty of them too.The wharton tract is the largest single piece in the state at 110,000 acres
bart i also saw a lot of does. none of which were in a position to harvest. i did however enjoy the time i spent in the woods. ive learned alot this yr. and there is alot more for me to learn.deer season may be coming to a close, but there are other critters to hunt. it aint over till its over. see y'all in the woods r.v.
We are down to a couple days. Been a great season! I did botch on a couple nice bucks but redeemed with some good eating doe.
I'm off tomorrow which is our last day of bow season. I had a great season also. I harvested my first traditional deer since the mid 70s and I had a better feeling of acomplishment than I have felt hunting game in years. I haven't used anything but a recurve or a longbow this year and hunted during our firearms season with a stick and string. I have one more tag and tomorrow is my last chance to fill it. Weather I'm succesful or not, it's still been a great season.
Our season ends at sunset tomorrow. Due to work and family commitments, only got out a few times this year. No bloody arrows, but I had fun every time I got out ... so I can't complain.
Yep. We are done here in NC.
I saw a bunch of deer this season while hunting a new-to-me piece of property that I have permission to hunt. I saw several deer in easy bow range (like 8 yards), but passed on taking a shot. The cover and brush made it so I was not in a position to get the broadside angle on the shot. And, I would rather take no shot than one at an unethical angle. Now that I know a little more about the deer on this piece of land I will be able to set up better stand positions next season. If my work schedule cooperates I will have more fun next season.
Tag soup for me this year, but a great season out among the deer, and much learned about a new piece of land.

stump shootin with a pal in late winter is a lot of fun plus good practice
ckanous, broketooth and smokin joe, do any of you do any feral hog hunting? If you do, can you provide some tips and advice?
I have access to some land that has them, but I've never hunted them before, and have no idea how to get started. Can you spot and stalk, still hunt?
Yep, all over for another year. Missed a couple of shots and will have tag soup this year. Went out last night, didn't see any deer but had the game warden waiting by my truck when I walked out to check my license :p .
Bartcanoe,
I sent you a PM about hunting feral hogs. You can reply by PM or email.

Watch the wind is all I can say. Got a few where I hunt this year that someone let loose but they have almost been taken out, everyone hates them around here. Set them up on a feeder like a deer.
Going out in the morning for one last try. I have a new Black Widow that I'm really feeling good about. We'll see if the deer cooperate.
Sadly, my season just ended today. Tomorrow is actually the last day but ...
My wedding anniversary is tomorrow, a day that lives in infamy for me.
Besides, I don't think the War Dept. would understand if I were to go hunting on the day that commemorates my enlistment to my wife.
Season Ended. Bummer!
