Title: hoyt dorado
Post by: C.W. on December 28, 2009, 11:51:00 AM
I'm thinking about getting a Hoyt Dorado and was woundering if anybody could tell me about the shelf on these bows.Specially how far the shelf is cut past center and what if any difficulties this may cause.
Thanks Chris

I probably should add that I want to shoot off the shelf itself.

Don't know exactly how far past center, but I have no issues shooting it off the shelf. One of the felt furniture pads from walmart got it about right for me.

Same as what smoked says for me as well.  Fine shooting bows!

You'll need something at least as thick as the furniture pads to get the arrow out to fly properly off the shelf.  I prefer to use the Bear Weather rest on mine but shoot off the shelf on the rest of my bows.  Funny isn't it?  It just seems to work better for me that way.....

I'm using one of the felt furniture pads also and I have great arrow flight off the shelf. Hope this helps.

Ok sounds good.I was justed concerned about the riser being to far past center so as to incorperate the use of a plunger type rest. But it seems something in the vicinity of 1/4" to 3/16" thick will produce good arrow flight.

I'm going to have to stop by Walmart tomorrow and check out the felt furniture pads.I never thought of that before but seems like a good idea.
