This time of year can be very hard for our military members around the world unable to be home for the holidays. But I know one military guy who couldn't make it home that had a fantastic time with a "TradGang" member. My Grandson, Christopher (A Cadet here on TG) is in the Army, and he is stationed on the other side of the Country in Washington. But Ken Gettman "ELKKEN" took my Grandson "under his wing" and Ken invited him to join his family Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. What a Very Kind Gesture!
I spoke with my Grandson last night, and he couldn't stop talking about the good time he had. Santa brought Elkken a new 3D bear target and Christopher put the first arrow in it ... right in the bulls eye. He was shooting a 45# Bill Stewart vintage recurve of Elkken's (and I heard he was shooting it very well).
I can't get over the many acts of kindness that I've witnessed here on TradGang. This is truly another one of those remarkable acts!
Thanks Ken Gettman (Elkken)!
p.s. My grandson is deploying in March/April timeframe, so please keep him and all our military members in your thoughts and prayers!
That's a great gesture from Ken and his Family. I'm sure it really helped Christopher make it thru the Holidays away from Home.
What a great story, just great! I sincerely appreciate your son's service.

I've hunted with Ken before. We were complete strangers before meeting on that hunt. Afterward I felt like I had a good friend!
Way to go Ken!!! :clapper:
Best to Young Chris (my adopted KID) and Elkken for looking out for him! Keep all our Military, wether home or abroad, in your thoughts and prayers.
Trad Gang is one heck of an extended family!

Cannot thank you enough for opening your home to Christopher. He has really enjoyed his time spent with you and your family.
He does want a backyard like yours someday ;)
