Title: Snake skin maintenance?
Post by: kat on December 27, 2009, 09:52:00 AM
What do you need to do to take care of snake skins of limbs?  I would imagine that a good coat of wax would do the trick, but I would rather not have a shiny surface in the woods.
Any ideas, or suggestions?

If the skins are sealed on the bow with some sort of finish, there should be no maintenance required. I have used Thunderbird sealant with great results. I usually put on 4 or 5 coats and it lasts several years.

Forgot to add that I use the satin finish to reduce the glare in the woods.

Thanks for the info. blueslfb.  I ordered the limbs from Black Widow; I will check to see what they use for a sealant.

a liberal dose of mouse grease works well.
