Wondering how many here hunt with old Bear recurves as their main go to bow? Pics?
I remember a year that a '71 Grizzly was my only hunting bow. Now I hunt with whatever is my latest love. I did hunt one year (2007) with a '65 Kodiak Magnum. Special bow, un-marred and with the box when I got it. I thought it needed some woods-time, after waiting all those years.

Killdeer
I hunt with a Bear A mag riser with original Bear green camo limbs.
I killed my 7pt with my 71 grizzly this year.next year I will be taking my 70 kodiak mag.
Last year a '72 Kodiak Hunter and this year a '62 Kodiak.
I hunt with a 62 kodiak.
i went from a 69 kodiak mag to a 62 kodiak
I hunted the 09 season with a 1978 grizzly,and I have a 1970 Super Mag that I stump with.I really enjoy both.
Many years ago, I hunted with a '63 Bear Kodiak Dogleg. Nowadays it only goes on a hunt occasionally, just for old time's sake. Back then I thought it was "cool" to hunt with a nostalgic bow from yesteryear... doesn't seem to have that luster anymore though.
I hunted last year with a 1970's circa green Kodiak Hunter 55# this year i liked my 1970 Kodiak Hunter better...i Have a twin coming as we speak except it is a 55#'r i'll try to post a pick of a couple of mine, you can see the green one and the one with the quiver is this years hunter. My main hunting bow this past year was a '67 Shakespeare Necedah. I also have a '61 Polar that I hunt with on occasion.
I do some bowfishing and bunny hunting with a '70 Grizzly. At 56" it's good in the brush.
I have an old Black Bear with the ugly turquoise lams. I camo painted it with a rattle can. It was my go-to until I got my Kanatis. Now it's my bowfishing rig. Even though it is NOT pretty, it's a shooter.
50# 1970 something Kodiak Mag. Kill a 9 point out of a ground blind.Cedar arrow bear broadhead.
I plan to hunt more with my vintage Bear bows they are really good shooter and very quiet. (http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx293/dazzafelix/DSCF0012.jpg)
Those Kodiak Magnum are great shooter and most of the times overlooked bows.Your 65 is maybe the best looking KMag.
I have a KMag I got used, don't know the year. It has gray/green glass with white laminations showing thru at the grip, and a bushing on the front below the grip. It is lightweight, easy to carry and fun to shoot.
How can I find out its date of birth? Is there an index?
My 71 Kodiak is my favorite bow..I am going to try again this spring to take a bear with it..

My 70 something Grizzly is a great shooter and I killed my buck with it this year..I have custom bows ,fastflight stings and all,but prefer to walk the woods with my old Bears...

Hunted with a '61 Kodiak, bought from a TGer, and will shoot a 10 week indoor with it as well.

'59 Bear Grizzly still works good.
Picked up a factory camo 1969 LH Super Kodiak 55lb a couple of months ago at a gun show. Plan to hunt with that or a 1962 Grizzly this next year
I have a 68 Polar that I use for small game, although she pulls enough to hunt deer. I have had a 67 kodiak hunter, a grizz and a Kodiak mag that I loved also. the 67 kodiak hunter tops all of them. I love old Bears
(http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/uu247/longbowbob58/DSC01035.jpg) I used a 1959 Kodiak for a 50th anniversary hunt this year.
I'm using a mid '70s Bear Takedown Mag A riser an No. 2 53# limbs this year.
Here's one I hunt with;

Now that's cool.
Gotta love them old static tips.
I used to hunt with my 1970 something grizzly till I got me a spiffy Silvertip. Was my first bow ever and I'll never sell it.
I was testing a new glue-on head this year and decided to team them with a set of Bear cedar arrows and a 1956 Kodiak Special . . . worked pretty well:^)

Mainly hunt with Kodiak Hunter. Love it. Got a button and a squirrel with it last week. Great old bow.
This past season, my '59 Kodiak spent it's 50th anniversary in a treestand with it's 50 year old owner.....doing what we BOTH were created to do!

My 1966 Grizzly is my go to bow. I just picked up a 1966 Kodiak that I will hunt with next fall. It just feels right when I'm in the woods with a an old Bear in my hand.

'59 Kodiak 56" 46#@28"
Not sure the year of this grizzly, but it was my first trad kill, so although it's not my main bow...it still sees the woods often!

My goto has been a Kodiak t/d for many years but this year I shot my first two deer with a pedator t/d and then 2 with the kodaik t/d and my last one went down to a 1966 kodiak I picked up mid season. Old Bears rule!
I hunted black bear in the Grayling, MI area this fall with a 1967 factory camo Bear Super Magnum 50#@28". No luck but it was cool taking the bow "back home" so to speak.
This is my main hunter with number 2 and number 3 following up. Grant (http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff82/ygrant87/Picture006.jpg)

I have a '53 that was my first real bow. The old girl has a lot of years on her and hopefully many more to come.
