Title: Need arrow advice
Post by: wscruggs on December 23, 2009, 03:00:00 PM
I am still pretty wet behind the ears when it comes to this traditional stuff and I need an arrow recommendation. I am shooting a BW PSA and it is pulling 59 at my 27 inch draw. I am looking for carbon and aluminum arrow suggestions. Right now I am shooting the grizzly stik Alaskans and do not like them very well. What would you guys recommend?

I shoot 60# currently at 27.5". I like the Beman MFX  340 spine arrows, 29" with 200-225 grains up front. Arrow weight is between 575 and 600 grains depending on head weight. I can bare shaft them out to 35 yards, probably farther if I wanted to increase the distance. Axis  or Full Metal Jackets in the same spine (340) are pretty much the same arrow and will shoot just as well.

Possibly 28" 2117's or maybe 27.5" 2016's? Upfront adapters & 150gr BH may get you 550+ grain total. Can't help w/carbons.

I love the Carbon Express arrows Heritage 250 cut to 30" and 100gr brass inserts  and 175gr to 250 gr Point weight will fly good out of your set up and give you high FOC and a tough arrow !!

Heritage 250 cut to 28.5"s with 225 up front should shoot very well. Cut to 29.5"s first and if a tad stiff cut 1/4" off and try again. You will be right there somewhere. Shawn

I shoot 58lbs at 26 inches. Shoot 2016's cut to 28 inches 125 grains up front with very  good results.

Ive tried alot off different arrows out of my Widows! I used to shoot 2117 alluminums, then 80-85# Tapered Hickories, and now finally I'm shooting Arrow Dynamics Traditionals (carbons). I personally see myself never shootimg anything else but these shafts. If you have any questions about them, shoot me a PM and I will pass my phone # off to you if you want to talk. Black Widows like a stiffer spined shaft.
