Title: Ribtec and screw in adapters
Post by: blind one on December 23, 2009, 09:45:00 AM
I was wondering if I can use a screw in adapter with a ribtec head. I put the adapter in the head and it spins true, but the insert and ribs wont have a lot of area that actually has the glue.....Thanks, Roy

Roy,

I use the 125 gr. steel inserts in the 190 gr. Ribteks. Flight and strength both seem good. I've used both 5 min epoxy and hot melt with equally good results. I don't leave 'em pretty as I completely fill the ribs with the glue.

Thanks Hackbow. That one isnt glued yet. I'll have plenty of glue on them. I just didnt want to waste the glue if it wasnt going to be strong enough.....Roy

Hi Blind one,

Even on wood shafts it's a good idea to completely fill all the openings in the Ribtek ferrule with slow-set epoxy and smooth it out so that the glue follows the shape of the ferrule. You'll get a super strong bond and better penetration too because the edges of the openings will catch both bone and soft tissue and act like breaks if they're not completely filled with glue.
