Title: Cabela's Outfitter Wool Parka?
Post by: LV2HUNT on December 22, 2009, 11:50:00 AM
Does anybody have this and how do they like it? I am concerned about the dry plus lining being noisy. Anybody know?

I don't have the parka, but the ShirtJac which does not have the dry plus lining and I love it. Warn and not noisy in the cold...

I have it and it is not noisy at all.  Actually, the dry plus lining really makes it alot warmer.  It's great for the tree stand, but could be a little too warm if you are a stillhunter. It's really a high quality garment.

I believe they are on sale in the bargain cave at cabelas.com! I've been eyeing them as well. Seems to me they would be noisy when the temps are in the teens/single digits.

I have wore this garmet for several seasons. I like it, but it is a little bit bulky. Noise is not an issue with the dry plus lining. Windstopper is another story.

Yeah, jrstegner that is exactly why I was asking as I have Windstopper in a berber fleece jacket and I am afraid to wear it due to the noise.

I have the wooltimate with Windshear. That is warm and quiet. The high plains outfitter camo is also great. I have had many deer look right through me while wearing it. I have heard that the Windstopper is noisy however. I don't know about the dryplus. I think it is about like goretex, so it shouldn't affect the noise level of the garment.

I have the dry plus in the Outfitter Wool pants and jacket and haven't noticed any problem with noise.  I have the Windstopper in a sweater and like others have said it is noisy.  I really do like the Outfitter Wool.

I like the Asbell one and would like to buy from them just on principle but it is missing some features I require and desire. I also have some discounts I can apply to the Cabelas one.

I have the vest and it's the best I've ever worn.  I'll be checking the sale on the parkas.

I've got the outfitter pants and parka, not noisy at all but very warm. Can only wear them during the late season while still hunting when it is freezing or below.

Well, with all this interest in the sale prices (60% off) I figured I better pull the trigger so I got one on the way   .

Which is not to say that I will not pick up an Asbell pullover later.

I can't believe the deals that Cabelas had right now.  I've lost 60# and need to reoutfit my cold weather stuff.  Going to get it done for less then $300 total.

Wow!!

You'll like the coat. I have one, along with the jacket and the bibs, all unlined. With the way I layer, i really don't need the liner. The parka with the hood is a bit bulky, the one thing I do not like is the sleeve cuffs. they have a velcro wrist tightener that adds bulk, and can be noisy.

I don'tthink I've worn it bowhunting, although late gun season it does get some use. I wear the bibs a lot, and love 'em. very quiet, can't beat wool for that.
