I received my retirement bow from Craig. What a beauty. It is a "Big Five", 68" 40#@28", African black wood riser, black glass front and back, hand rubbed finish, with finished grip. I think it turned out great. At times the African black wood riser has the color of a dark red/black bing cherry. The bow is feather light weighing in at 1# 2 oz. The bow is the smoothest Hill bow of any I have ever owned or shot, no hand shock at all. I could almost grab the first group of all four arrows at 20 yards with one hand. Its one of those bows that makes you smile every time you shoot it.

This is going to be a great bow for shooting around my property. I need to make some arrows for it, get 'er all tuned up and I'll be set.
nice looking bow.
Yessir, nothing like a Hill, and that's a beauty.
Congrats on your retirement, BTW.
That is a beauty!! Your one lucky guy... I have to say that is one of the prettiest Hills I have seen.
Hillbilly
Nice looking bow!
Looks like the string is upside down?
Josh
Joe, man that is gorgeous! Congrats on a beautiful bow, and your retirement!
Ken
beautiful bow you have there, congrats on the retirement also
Yep, she's a beaut!
Sweet looking Hill,I love mine!
Very nice looking bow! Can't beat a Hill, IMO.
Now that is real nice. Injoy your retirement.
I like the handle without any leather on it. Beautiful wood. Does anyone know if Craig will do a handle with checkering around the handle? You know, like shotguns and rifles??
I would love to get a Wesley Special with a handle like that.
Gorgeous Hill, and what a nice retirement gift to yourself. Great weight, too. You'll be able to shoot that way into senior years.
Man what a pretty bow!
Thanks for all your comments.
TommyBoy, I think at one time Craig did offer checkering on the riser on some of his special editions. I would go ahead and just ask him.
OliverStacy, no, the string is not upside down. When ever you put a square on the string it just about splits the serving in half. There might be about 1/4" more serving on the lower end of the string.
Retirement is a great thing. I highly recomend it to everyone. Your comments are very appreciated.
You guys and your Hill's. I'm trying to be strong and not start thinking about new bows, but you make it real hard when you put-up pretty pics like that. LOL. Enjoy the bow and the Retirement! Congrats!
Beautiful just beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing.
God bless,Mudd
Nice looking bow. I hope that you really enjoy it.
DannyBows....forget it, you can''t resist the allure of a new Hill. Why should you be sensible about this stuff--it''s only money ;)
well i got to say that is a nice hill for sure .
Very Nice--Do you think it will get slick if your hand starts sweating?
nice mate ... very nice ...
Ben
Those Hill's are real nice, thats a beauty you got, enjoy your retirement!!
makes me want to take the grip of mine to see how it shoots
That is a beauty!
That is SLICK! That rubbed finish looks like its a foot thick! Happy retirement, enjoy. Eric.
That looks better than my wife...LOL
That is a really nice Hill, I am certainly with ya on the Hill thing.....I have a few myself.
Congrats
Gorgeous!, love the finished grip and the finish period. Sweet, sweet Hill. Congrats on the retirement too! Does this mean you'll have more time to shoot that beautiful Hill?
That's a beauty for sure!!!
Nice bow.
Congrats on your new bow and your retirement...enjoy!
Lucky Man I love the African Black Wood!
Mudd: That sure is a fine looking dog you have in your avatar. Reminds me of the Beagle I had when I was living in southern Illinois with my grandfather back in the '50's.
Rick James: You got me to thinking about the wet, sweaty hand. I soaked my bow hand really good and had it wet to the bone and went out and shot the bow. The grip did'nt seem all that different. Actually it seems like it had a little more gripicity to it. Back in the 60's, 70's Browning, Bear, Howatt and others had some of the glossiest finishes around. I cant remember slippery grips ever being a problem. I have a HH "Redman" #45 @ 28" that I will hunt deer with. So I probably wouldn't have this bow out in wet weather that much anyway.
Far Rider: Yes I will have more time to shoot. I would say that I have been able to increase my shooting 300% to 400% more since I have retired. Also, I have been able to spend more time in tuning arrows and equipment. I live in Colorado and one of the things I always wanted to do is spend the whole archery season camped out hunting. That is about a whole month. I think that is going to happen this year.
I want to thank everyone for the retirement well wishes. I do appreciate them.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Veterans and those currently serving our country. Thank you.
