They're a blast - hard as heck to hit but it's fun to try.

Fun to hunt them from a tree stand too. Where to locate the stand so you will get more than one or two shots a day is the question. I used to hunt them from a tree stand at the corner of a corn field. A ton of them came there to feast on corn. Missed many, hit a few.

The wife set up a corn feeder in our backyard. I thought that was awfully nice of her.
Shot 5 of the little buggers in 2 days, made up a batch of squirrel with rice and gravy. She loved it, then said "I don't remember having any squirrel in the freezer"?
I said, "that corn feeder was a great idea".
She screamed "that's not for shooting, that's just for looking at"!   :D

well it never fails,,it seems I always hav to shot at one or two everytime I go hunting. Either on the walk in or when I'm sittin in the stand. I just can't let them go by more than twice before I let the arrows fly.

I've had some good shots but it seems they can read minds.

They are tougher than people give them credit for. I have not been all year but will change that idea this week!!!!! Cannot wait.

"They are tougher than people give them credit for.."
-I bought some green blunts for squirrels...hit 2 in one day from about 15 yards...one right between the shoulder blades and the other in the shoulder from the side...rolled them both...both are still alive.  I also shot one in the throat with a judo...dropped like a rock...came back to life about 10 minutes later and tried to carry the arrow away...

Are you saying there are actually bowhunters who do not hunt squirrels with their bows?  Well....they certainly can't be trusted 8^).

All of you have inspired me.  When deer season ends, I'll be going squirrel hunting.

Has anyone posted some squirrel recipes on the recipe forum?
