Title: Found a Good Home for Some Bows
Post by: 4est trekker on December 17, 2009, 05:47:00 PM
I have two good friends who are both struggling in this economy with being out of work.  One is a master electrician and has been laid of twice in 9 months.  The other is the wife of a commercial contractor.  Both families are squeaking by, but I thought a bow might make their Christmas budget go further.

This bow I gave to the wife of the contractor.  I teach with her, and she asked me not too long ago about getting a wooden bow for her son.  (I posted pics of this one awhile back.)  She said he was very interested in archery, but that they couldn't really afford to purchase a bow.  Her husband was going to build their son one, but I figured this little bow needed a great little boy to shoot it in proper!

This bow I gave to my electrician buddy.  He's really interested in shooting and, frankly, has a lot of time on his hands.  We've both got boys the same age, and he's really feeling down about not being able to provide for his wife and son.  This is the bow that I made in the "So You Wanna Build A Bow Build-Along."  The look on his face and the thank you letter he wrote sealed the deal!

Like 'em both Curt. Good bit of generosity just at the right time.

Good on you, 4est.

I am putting the last of 5 coats of Wipe-on Polyurethane on my "board bow." After I polish that down, I will be giving it to a co-worker, who can then fling arrows with his son.
