I was wondering what everyones opinions were on the Garmin 60CSX. I am wanting a unit that has excellent reception and that I can download topo and ariel maps to. I was also thinking about the Bushnell Onix (i think thats what it is called).
Thanks
The garmin is a great GPS my dad has the 60 CSX and I have the colorado 400T. Both have great reception and are really easy to use. You can download maps to both of them. I got the sd card from garmin for mine. It is also compatible with other mapping software. Very useful for marking areas were elk run away with your arrows.
Here is another thread a day or so old with some more helpful information on the Garmin 60CSx and also some mapping info.

long time Garmin fan...
Chase, I just bought an Etrex Legend HCX and it is awesome! I've been using these things for 10 years, and this one is by far the best. You know the places I hunt. Always fast reception and lock-on. It is so accurate and fast, I seldom use my compass any more. I just navigate with the arrow pointer on the map page! This one doesn't have the compass, which I've heard they all stink anyway. I bought the SE US map chip, and really like it. Just thought you would like to know that you don't have to spend that much money to get what you want. I think I paid $218 shipped for mine on X-XXX auction site.
+1 on the 60CSX... I also use it on my motorcycle. You'll have to check on the availability of detailed (i.e. 1:24K) topo data for it. Last time I looked Garmin had the western states, but not all of the eastern states.
I have owned a etrrex legend and loved it (as Apex stated) my screen went out and had to buy another Garmin 60 (I don't know about csx or whatever) it works well although not as "user friendly" as the etrex was. I think you would be happy with most models as long as you stay under a few hundred bucks.
I've had a few Garmins and would definitely buy them again. I know a few people who use 60csx's and love them.
Garmin CSX fan, returned the bushnell
Thanks guys for all the information. Marty I will look into that Etrex Legend. There were some other GPS units like DELORME and some others that were more expensive, but I think i am gonna just stick with a Garmin. Thanks for all the info.
60CSX is a great unit for both on the road and back in the woods.
Has anyone loaded any aerial images to there 60csx, and if so how good did it work. I am really wanting to get a unit that works well with aerial images. Thanks again.
The csx is the best garmin has made so far IMHO...I've been using their units for work for 16 yrs. Fast sat aquisition and works well under about any canopy. Takes some getting used to for loading maps from disc...but after a few tries not bad. Would highly recommend the csx....for a very simple easy to use without alot of bells and fluff you can't beat an etrex. Not always good if under alot of canopy though.
I have always used Gamin GPS units and have a 60 CXS. It's the only gps unit with enough power to punch through the armoured wagons I've worked in whilst on the road.
ak.
Garmin has been making GPS units for many years. I have a 60 CXS and would not hesitate to buy another one. I did not know that Bushnell made a GPS.
Ray
Can't speak to the Bushnell but I have the CSX60.
Does everything I want it to, has lots of memory for mapping and marking stands and the reception is the best I've ever seen. Excellent unit for outdoorsmen.
I too have the Garmin CSX60 and find it to be brilliant unit.
Thanks guys for all the info.
Any body have any experience with aerial images on these units? Thanks
