What is the difference? I heard once that the 23/64th's were the better arrow and the the reject of those were spun into 11/32's. Will the bigger shaft size stay straighter? Any help from you old wood guy's would be greatly appreciated.
There is only a 1/64" difference,no a bigger shaft will not stay straighter.Wood shafts are a natural material,it depends alot on the way the grain runs.My 11/32" shafts stay as straight as my 23/64" shafts.With POC if you want higher spine weights will usally require a 23/64" shaft.But too lighter spines can come in both diameters.I like 11/32" in my lighter bows but use 23/64" in my higher spine arrows.Different types of wood shafts you can get higher spines in say 11/32".I have ash shafts 70-75# spine in 11/32",but with POC they are 23/64" for that spine.I would straighten my shafts and then seal them,that will help them to stay straight.
I am looking to get some Surewood shafts. Is there any difference in the performance? I am leaning towards the bigger size and i don't really know why.

Good Lord son, "the rejects of those were spun into 11/32"'s." Not hardly.
Tighter grained wood in 11/32 can spine as high as 100# or more. The 23/64 can spine as low as 45 to 50 pound. It is the density of the grain that makes spine, in conjunction with the diameter. Density also adds weight, so you can actually get heavier 11/32 than 23/64. I think folks at one point just liked the wider shaftting and probably supposed it was sturdier because of the broader cross section. I doubt it is, but some folks think so.
Decades ago, you could rarely find 23/64 unless you special ordered them. I like the smaller diameter myself. You can also buy 5/16.....which are NOT spun out of rejects either 8^).
