My wife & I travel occasionally and it would be nice to know where the trad shops around the U.S. are located. We have a fine one in the Denver area, Rocky Mtn Specialty Gear, actually about 2 1/2 hours from where I live. Tom is great to deal with and it's always nice to try different bows, pick up a few items, etc.
Let's hear it, where are the trad shops? :campfire:
Another vote for RMSG
3 rivers and the footed shaft are about the only 2 I ever buy from.
I guess I'm lucky living in NE Indiana. I have three of the best places to shop at for my disease. Kustom King is less than an hour away. Lost Nation is 25 minutes and 3Rivers is just one mile down the road from where I work. Even though 3Rivers is more like a warehouse they always let me wander around and pick my own stuff, talk to me and let me shoot anything they have in stock.
The Nocking Point in Winchester Kansas. No finer guy than Mike.
I vote for the Nocking Point, I have been to Three Rivers and its large with tons of stuff, but you feel like a life long friend when you walk into the Nocking Point.
Ricky
Jerald with Archers Advantage in Little Rock Arkansas. Dont think you will find a larger selection of Bob Lee or Roy Hall bows in stock. He has tons of others and used bows too.
I'll second The Nocking Point...Mike and Brenda are top notch. Plus it is close enough to KC that you can go and wander through Cabela's.
If you head out West there is Raptor Archery in Hood River, OR.
If you're ever near Butler, PA check out Allegheny Archers. They have a huge selection of trad bows and accessories, plus a great inside 3d range.
I have not seen Ted on here for a while but, like Chris stated, his shop Raptor Archery in Hood River, Oregon would be a good place to stop by.
Ted is a sponsor. http://www.raptorstore.com/store/
I'd vote for Ted if you are in the Northwest, Mike Yance/Pine Hollow if in Arkansas, Mark Horne/ if in North Texas, Bear Foot Traditions/Iowa, and I know I'm forgetting at least a dozen more. I'll think on it. CK
Adventure Studios Corralles N.M.
Raptor Archery is a great shop, and that Ted guy is alright....what are you doing these days Ted?
Probably out shoveling snow like the rest of us fools in this valley!
Doug
Another vote for Mike and Brenda at The Nocking Point...
The fact that I live just south of them is a BIG plus too... :D
Mike and The Nocking Point--Great! Coach
1. Raptor Archery, Hood River, OR
2. Wildcat Canyon Archery (I think that is the name of the shop), Durango CO
I've been to others, but those are my favorites so far.
For me it is Raptor Archery in Hood River wherever you are.
HEILDENBRAND ARCHERY
here in southwestern Pa

I agree. I really have had no bad dealings with any of them and have purchased from 3R, KK, LN, and Mike at The Nocking Point. All seem to take the time to talk to you if you call in, which is nice in this day and age.
I can tell you where NOT to bother: Northern Arizona.
i use mike at the nocking point as much as i can super guy and a wealth of info
I will have to agree on the Nocking Point. Nothing fancy! Just a big shed full of just about any trad equip you could want, great people, and great prices!
Just wish he wasn't so far out in the country!
Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear in Arvada CO. (A sponsor here). Tom Clum and crew know their stuff and treat you well. Ken
Stopped by Ted's about 2 weeks ago and picked up a new Arrow Master Quiver.... he was busy building a bow but talking all about the skiing up on Mt Hood. :wavey:
I'll vote for Nixie, MO and the Widow factory, maybe not as much stuff as others but it is right next door to work and a great bunch of guys!
I'll second the widow factory,I stop in there a couple of times a year on the way to the lake to fish, always friendly and glad to show you around.
Lots of good shops out there. Done business with quite a few of them. KK, 3R's, Nocking Point, Raptor. Would like to try Footed Shaft and some more. I need to take a major road trip. :readit:
If you want an 'experience' like no other, try 4 Peaks Archery in Mesa, Az. The owner is, well, different, but he has a bunch of good trad stuff. Hope you like beer.
Lamont Granger and the Footed Shaft is a great place to stop in while in Rochester, Minnesota.
I think Mike at the Nocking Point is a class act and very knowledgeable.
Lucas
Another vote for Ted at Raptor Archery, great guy, goes out of his way to help you. We have all been out shoveling snow/slop lately.
If your in Vancouver, Wa. or Portland, OR. Call Brock at Bull Mountain Archery he has everything you need and good conversation always ensues during a visit.

You definitely have my curiosity.
I have to say leaving Valley Traditional archery (Silt, Co.) off the list would be a shame. Dick and Nancy are great people and run a great shop!
Haven't been to the others mentioned and I am sure they are nice, but I can speak VERY highly of Lamont at the Footed Shaft. A fine gentleman, with a wealth of knowledge and a very nice archery shop! When my Dad was really sick and at Mayo in Rochester, he let me hang out there from time to time, even in the middle of the winter with his heat broken he was open and welcomed me in.
I've dealt with a number of Trad Gang Vendors - 3 Rivers, Kustom King, Ron LaClair, Alaska Bowhunting Supply, Raptor Archery - just to name a few of the shops that carry an extensive line of Trad stuff (not to mention the specialty businesses) with only the best of service. I've been on Trad Gang since just about the start and really try to support the vendors here.
That being said - I can't say too much about my experiences with Lamont Granger at The Footed Shaft. I live in MN - so I've only got a 1 1/2 hour drive - but like Lefty's Dad - my wife was in the Mayo a number of years ago (the Footed Shaft is only about 10 minutes from there) - Lamont's hospitality and knowledge (not to mention his incredible collection of Bear Bows) made a difficult time more tolerable. He also offered to let me watch a really cool VHS of Paul Schafer on a number of hunts - he just said "bring it back when you are done" - pretty darn cool!

Here in Michigan we have a little shop in Sand Lake (just north of Grand Rapids), called Traditional Outdoor Supply.
Great little shop with all your needs, run by a good man Tom Hackbaart.
chris <><
If I had Tom to deal with that close to home, I'd not even think of dealing with anybody else....shame on you!! Seriously, Jim Pyles of J.E.P. Enterprises Traditional Archery Shop of St. Mary, MO is a great guy to deal with, too.
I'm voting for rocky mt specalty and 3 rivers...
Allegheny Archers was a great one near Butler PA. Unfortunately they've closed shop. It was nice while it lasted.
Valley Traditional Archery Supply in Silt Colorado has a great selection of accesories and supplies as well
