Hey all,
I would like to get your opinions and thoughts on this choice. Lets say you have a set of ILF limbs and are wanting to get into a new riser for hunting and VERY informal backyard shooting. Your choices are the Hoyt Excel or the Hoyt GameMaster II. I know the GM doesn't take ILF limbs directly, but Lancaster does sell a kit that allows you to use those limbs on that riser.
I guess you could throw the Hoyt Dorado in there too if you want to spice it up more.
So what riser would you pick and why? I'd like to hear any thoughts or ideas you have about each, especially if you have owned or shot the Excel or GMII.

I own Black Widow bows, Bob lee bow, Bear Bows and Damon Howat bow.... but since I bought one GM2 I shoot only with it.... IMHO I thing it's one of the most enjoyable, smooth, and very very funny bow...and the arrows go where you seen... I don't know Dorado or other "Trad Tech" bows... but I'm very happy for my GM2...

I have the excel riser with a set of border limbs,it seems to be a good combo,and it comes ILF.I will be taking it to Texas hog hunting in January as a back up bow. My primary weapon for hog hunting is my Kanati.
You need to decide what features are important to you.
The Gamemaster and Dorado use ILF limbs but require a bushing in place of the ILF dovetail. They also offer no adjustability. Both have great grips and have contoured, radiused shelves and can easily accomodate being shot off the shelf or off of a rest.
The Excel offers the ability to plug in different limbs with no modifications. It also allows for some adjustability in preload and tiller. It has a broad flat shelf and is best suited to shooting off of an elevated rest. It has a great grip and is well balanced.
I used to have a Gamemaster and can't say a bad thing about it. It's a great bow. Especially when you upgrade the limbs.
I am currently shooting both an 23" and a 21" Excel. I really like the 21" Excel. I think it will make an awesome 3D bow. Despite being shot off a rest I find I can shoot it with a slight cant, just like my hunting bow. It balances well and is just a joy to shoot.
Either way I don't think you can go wrong. If it were me I'd choose the Excel with a good set of limbs, a quality rest and have it camo dipped.
