I just watched the fantastic archery, and bowhunting DVD Bowhunting Reflections. I applaud the bowhunting scenes that show animals hunted on even terms. Along with Primal Dreams my new best video. Bowhunting Reflections will have you saying I'm proud to be a bowhunter. Could be used as a great educational tool.
I couldn't agree with you more...
I have watched Primal Dreams only twice but have watched Steve Gorr's Bowhunting Reflections about a dozen times. It is that good.
Steve also took a couple Pronghorns with the trad bow this past hunting season which will be included in his next video.
I saw this and had to go and watch it again. Steve is the Man.
You are right Blackhawk. The first antelope that I hit fell on the spot and I could see the blood pumping were the shaft entered so I didn't think it was a spine shot. The arrow just looked lower than that . But as you know it was a spine shot. That is the 4 th animal that I hit that did not travel three yards. Kustom King Archery picked up a box of Bowhunting Reflections last week, also Raptor Archery.
There will be DVD's fore sale at the Denton hill and the try state shoot in Montana.
One of the best DVDs I have seen yet, just to watch Fred and Steve sharing their experiences is great , then to watch Steve stalk a buck bedded in the cattails is worth the price of the DVD alone.
But throw in Chris and Steve hunting in Africa as well as Steve stalking elk and stump shooting with Fred , you cant beat this film, a must see and a good one to give to a hunting buddy for Christmas.
Steve, How long until the next video is done? Everyone is waiting for the sequel.
BRING IT ON!!!
:~)
Shoot straight, Shinken
I loved that dvd, can't wait for the next one. No high fiving, fist pumping or hollering. Just class and respect for the animals.

Has anyone watched Bowhunting Reflections more than three times in one week? I need to know if I am a fanatic. Another question I have after going over this video is how many shots did it take Steve to split Fred's arrow? Chris Hills 45 yard 3-D elk target shot was a thing of beauty! The video's ending 50 yard shot at the lion with the longbow? I'm just wondering if I need to get out & start shooting at my bales?
Well I filmed Chris on several of the shots that were used in the DVD like the two bighorn sheep shots at the archery shoot. He never had to take a second shot any time that I was behind the camera. The elk shot was 45 to 50 yards and he drilled it.
Steve broke the arrow on the first try. I missed it twice. I don't think any of the shots were more than one take. I shot the sheep twice but I think he used both shots. Steve was shooting his longbow on the lion so I don't think that shot was 50yds maybe only 40 something with his recurve we might have backed him up to 50. Glad you liked it I had fun working with Steve he is great at editing. Although he did make me look a little fat.LOL
I just have to tell people what caliber of person Steve is...
After watching the dvd, I contacted Steve to inquire about the shooting tab he uses and where to get one. He said that he makes them and would be happy to make me one, about a week later, a custom made tab shows up in the mail for me.
A truely great guy, thanks Steve!
Sammy :notworthy:
Shortly after the DVD was completed, Chris took a nice 5X5 elk in Washington state sending his arrow straight through the top of the heart.
However, it was a 20-25 yard shot, not a 45 yard shot (even though he most likely would have made it.)
Blackhawk thanks for not mentioning the blown shot at 18 yds a couple days before, nobody should know about that.
The Next DVD. Fred Anderson had shoulder surgery this past summer and he is know up to pulling a 40# bow. We hope to begin shooting video this spring and have the entire video complete by September of 2010. Thanks to Terry Green and Trad Gang the DVD sales have been great. I Thank all of you for your support. Fred Anderson new book will be coming out in April. Keep your children involved in the outdoors. Have a Christ filled Christmas
Where can I order a copy from? :wavey:
Nice great DVD.

Cascade Archery. They are a sponsor here.
You can order them at the top of the page. Also Custom king and Raptor Archery has them.
Bowhunting Reflections is truly an awesome dvd. The videography is spectacular.
This is unlike most hunting videos where the hunters are nothing but shills for the products they are endorsing.
In addition, it is a video where you can actaully learn something valuable from two distinguished bowyers and bowhunters that have contributed so much to the sport, not to mention that the fact that they are great shots. Together they have over 100 years of bowhunting experience.
To me, Fred Anderson is one of the grand gentlemen of this sport and I am grateful to have one of his bows and had spoken to him several times at Denton Hill or on the telephone.
Bravo Steve, it is a video that I'll watch over and over.
Thanks Jesse. I just ordered it. ;)
Just placed my order as well. Can't wait, as it seems like an excellent trad hunting film!
The best in my collection,, by far! Steve told me they are working on a 2nd DVD at this time.. Should be out next summer.
Put me on the list for the next "reflection" DVD.
John III
Put me on the list for the next version too.
I think Steve is going to try and get some small game on the next video.
Hmmm, after this kind of feedback, I think I just decided what Christmas present I would give myself...
I guess I should order one myself!!
Santa (my wife) just gave me one of my Christmas presents....the Bowhunting Reflections DVD......doesn't get much better than that!
Merry Christmas all.
The first thing that came to my mind when I watched the dvd, it's very similar to Primal Dreams and not as good. IMO
Charles Barkley once said in a interview I am not a role model and I don't want to be a role model. The only problem with that is it is the child chooses who his role model is not the basket ball player. You as a Archer or Bowhunter are role models. Trust me there kids looking up to you aspiring to be like you. They would love to talk to you, or be taught by you. On this Christmas day a great resolution would be to invite a child to participate in any out door activity. Then tell them the true meaning of Christmas How God sent his Son to go to the cross out of love for us so that one day we will be with Him forever. If you want him to become a bowhunter let him view Primal Dreams. Keep your feathers dry.
Steve
Day Dreamer, That is a nice compliment comparing Bowhunting Reflections with Primal Dreams. Primal Dreams is one of the best video's out there. Thank you.
Absolute Best of the Best:
Primal Dreams
Bowhunting Reflections
The Lost Antlers
Great Music
Great Scenes
Great Messages
. . . and some Mighty Fine Bowhunting
Absolutely can not wait for the second chapter of each.
Thoughtful post from you 52Mag...and so true.
I gave a couple copies of Bowhunting Reflections to friends for Christmas even though they are not bowhunters.
After viewing it, they replied with comments like, "Wow! Great movie...sure not like what I see on those hunting shows."
Steve and the boys did good on this one, huh? :clapper:
Rik, I haven't heard of the Lost Antlers video. I am going to have to look that one up. Thanks.
It's nice to see a discussion about the true meaning of Christmas on a bowhunting site. It makes one proud to be an archer.
Somehow i missed this thread back in December. i had the pleasure of meeting Steve thru this site a few weeks ago. To make a long story short, he wanted my mailing address to send me a bow brochure from Cascade Archery. i got the brochure but he also included free of charge a copy of "Bowhunting Reflections". i just got thru watching it and it gets two  ! It is so much more than just a video about taking animals with traditional equipment.
i hope you don't mind Steve, but this copy will be donated to the St Jude's Auction!
Took some great video of Angelo ( Bison Packs) hunting antelope in Wyoming this past September. Also took some good footage of Angelo stalking a mule deer. The hunt with his good friend Rob and Denny Behn was as good as it gets. The four of us took 9 bucks two good mule deer.
Cant wait to see it!
Can't wait to get some Traditional Bowhunting DVD's... till then I got to go to youtube and watch some traditional bowhunts by others.
For those of you Archers who have been waiting the past 3 weeks for Cascade to send you your New DVD we received our shipment today the 13 th. and all DVD's will be sent within two days. Thank you for your order.
Cottonwood, Give Steve a call 360-435-4251. Bowhunting Reflections is a great movie. You could get it by Christmas. Steve has plenty in stock now.
Steve how is the new video coming along?
Yep, absolutely one of the best! Just to see two Legends hanging out together swapping stories was worth the money. But there's so much more!
Bowhunting Reflections is my favorite bowhunting DVD and would make for a great Christmas present!
I cant wait for your next one Steve!
I just talked with Fred and he is up to pulling 35#. Hope to get some small game hunting and carp shooting with Chris, and Blackhawk. Then bear in the fall and we should have another DVD to put together.
Just ordered the video from Mr. Fry, can't wait. :banghead: :coffee:
Still enjoyin' PART I, but lookin' forward to PART II Steve!
Have some great hunts and make some good shots in 2011 for the DVD!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Fred should be ready to shoot some carp. He can shoot them with that weight but another 5# wouldn't hurt. We just need to hope for a good spawn this year. I can't wait as I haven't taken any carp for a couple of years now.
I must have missed what happened to Fred.?.
Fred had shoulder surgery in late summer.
Thanks Chris
I heard the DVD was first class and it doesn't surprise me that there isn't any wild, celebratory gyrations over the fallen animals.
I have a recurve bow from both Fred and Steve and know from talking with each what class acts they are. They are welcome in my camp any time.
I'm getting myself and a couple of special friends a copy of "Bowhunting Reflections"
wulf
Good choice wulf! You and your friends will love it!
Wulf the only celebratory gyrations in the video are from Steve and Fred ribbing each other. If you ever get to shoot with them you will get a side ache laughing so much as it is non stop one liners all day long.
I just sent a box of 30 DVD's to Three Rivers Archery. Anyone who is making a order with them can include the DVD in there order, also The Footed Shaft.
Steve just informed me that he is going to try and get a new Hi Def camera to film some of his new movie with. He sounded really excited.

Thank you Steve!!

From the bottom of my heart, God bless you!

Nice! A new HD camera will make for even better video.
Great DVD. One of the best I've seen. After finding out about it on here I ordered myself one for christmas.
Just so you guys don't misunderstand me I'm all for "celebrating" a successful hunt with our hunting buddies with handshakes, slaps on the backs and such. It's just that I've seen so much "macho" crap on today's so-called hunting shows it embarasses me. You guys are the real deal and I'm proud to associate with you.
I've got my DVD's ordered and can hardly wait to get them.
wulf
I just had to take this time to thank the archers who ordered the DVD Bowhunting Reflections for Christmas. Have a safe and great New Year. Take a child into the outdoors in 2011.
I hear the Seahawks won the game today because the coach made each player watch the DVD to gain a winning attitude.
How long does it generally take to get the DVD once it has been ordered and paid for?
If my memory serves me correctly I used Paypal and ordered mine on 12/31/10.
Please don't misunderstand, I'm not complaining, just asking. Thank you!
God bless,Mudd
Mudd, I think you should get your video soon. I sent Steve an e-mail but haven't heard back yet. I don't know if he is out of town or not? Steve is pretty good at getting those things out.
Mudd, got an e-mail from Steve. He said that it went out last Friday and you should have it by Tuesday. Hope you enjoy it.
Pay Pal takes two days to process and we ship within three days. In most cases the post office gets the DVD to you in 4 days.
Mudd, Did you get your DVD? If so did you like it?
Chris.
I did get it! Thank you!
Yes I enjoyed it, then gave it to a friend for him to enjoy.
God bless,Mudd
