this is my second armguard. basically the same as the first except i made it wider, used more dye to make it a little darker, and wood burnt a sketch i made last night onto it. i pretty pleased with the finished product this time around. i took more pics this time do to the glare the flash caused. hope you all like it.

Pretty good lookin' I'd say.....
Now thats a nice arm guard!! Great craftsmanship
looks nice.
nice work! I think I'm going to try one soon. Made a few string keepers and want to try something more difficult.
Good job Jay. I like the dark leather & skull pic.
Looks good to me!
Very nice. Hap
How much? Haha...looks really nice!
Wow that's nice!
Thats a keeper.
Now all your frinds are going to want you to make them one.
Nice job and great looking armguard!
very nice...nice looking skull mount pic
thanks for all the nice comments everyone. i don't have any friends that shoot and would need an armguard. i only have one friend and my brother that shoot, they both shoot compounds and don't use armguards. i may make one for my brother if he wants though. now onto making a quiver, just need to decide how i want to make it, i'm sure my first one will suck, but hopefully the 2nd one will be good.
thanks again for the nice comments everyone
NICE!
Good job!
Thats a great looking arm guard
I like the skull burned in there. What weight leather did you use?
Very nice. The only problem I see would be that Id spend too much time gawking at it while on stand and might miss whats going on under the stand.
stumpsniper.....no clue what the weight of the leather was. it's old tanned deer hides i have lying around, they were very thin so i doubled it up so it would have some bulk and strength, you can see i stitched all the way around, used glue between also.
i fairly certain, just about anything i make from my hides will need to be doubled up, otherwise it would be thin and weak, and not keep any type of form.
izzy..... i klike the pic to but it's nothing compared to all the cool things you see out in nature/the woods. my arts beauty compared to the beauty of nature, doubt you'd even bother to look at the armguard.
thanks again for all the nice replys
I like the look of that one as well as any I've seen! I really like that burnt sketch! Great stuff and something to be very proud of indeed!
Twice as good as the first one! Keep it up
COOL :)
Nice.
I'd like to try the woodburning on mine but I'm thinking it would be difficult to keep the lines the same size. I'm starting my armguard today.
Very nice work!!
stumpsniper ... wood burning anything isn't easy because there's no eraser, but there are some ways to make it easier.
whatever the pic is you want to put onto the leather draw it in pencil first on paper. next go over it a few times so that the lead/ penicl material wil be dark and built up. cut it out so it's smaller but leave an decent edge around the out side. take the piece of leather bfore you dye it(if your going to) flip the scetch so the pic is face down on the leather. then scribble the back side of the sketch to transfer the image. note that the image you want will be flipped, so if you have and eagle you want to face the hand side of the armguard you will need the pic to be facing the oppiste way, i.e. the elbow side. then you'll have the pic in pencil on the leather. it may not be perfect, but you'll have the size and basic shape making it alot easier to start burning. go slow because there's no way to erase it :) , good luck
Thanks for the tips
That is a beautiful armguard! Nice job :clapper:
Nice job! What kind of paint and finish did you use?
i want one!
Outstanding work! You could do quivers, too, and have yourself a fine sideline.
nice job.
cookus... i used a acorn colored dye, you can buy it at hobby lobby(where i bought it), or another hobby store, or shoe repair stores carry it also, or over the net.
i'm working now on a quiver
thanks for all your nice comments everyone
