I posted about this bow a while back on the collector forum. It was given to me by a guy who was cleaning out a storage unit. He told me the bow was junk, and advised not to shoot it. The bow was covered in a paint but appeared fine to me. A few hours with fingernail polish remover and the bow was cleaned up. It had a few stress cracks in the limbs near the fade areas. A sponsor to this site Precision Hydrographics (camo dip) was running a Trad Gang special on camo dipping. The bow was soon sent. They did an outstanding job with quick turn around. I was so happy with the bow I sent a black plastic Thunderhorn quiver. Not only the hood of the quiver but the base as well. The quiver too was done well with a quick turn around and an outstanding price. Thumbs up to Precision Hydrographics.

60" 50@28 BEAR Kodiak Hunter
Sweet!
I thought I knew that bow,I have a mate to it in 45#
Turned out realy nice.
Sweet. Wanna have that done soon!
Wow! Is that pricey? I could really enjoy seeing something that looked that good in my hands. Have any clue how it holds up to the rough and tumble of hunting?
God bless,Mudd
PS: Looks absolutely fantastic!!!
Sorry, but I liked it better as a Kodiak Hunter; much prettier to my eye than that look-alike camo stuff. 8^(((((. To each his own.
I'll agree with what Mr. Stout said. Vintage equipment always bring back some special memories for me. The camo looks good on the ol' bow. If a vintage bow is great, one that is going hunt rather than being a "wall queen" is even better.

If the limbs have stress cracks in the finish, does the camo dipping help preserve the limbs?
I have a Palmer T/D that needs to be refinished and I was considering, for giggles, sending it in and having it camo dipped. What do you all think?
Looks great!
Looks Cool
Looks good!
awesome make over
Wow! That turned out REALLY nice!
Wow that looks cool with the quiver to match...I had a k super mag done by Precision Hydrographics and they did a super job on it...Might have to try the quiver deal though...thanks for sharing
Great looking Camo job and if you are happy that is what counts.
I am with George, it looks like it cleaned up nice, I think I would have refinised it and kept that beautiful wood showing, JMO.
Happy Hunting, Tater
I agree to some extent, covering up a classical beauty. Like people who chop and drop a classic '53 Chevy p.u.
We all have seen alot worse done to these fine bows! I think Clint is protecting it for future use. Heck, in his post, the guy who gave it to him, probably would have trashed it!
Imagine in another 30-40 years, Clints grandson, decides to remove the camo, wala, a Classic find!
Good shootin, Steve.
Can't fault a beautiful camo job. That's very nice. Some of us really appreciate the natural woods more. You can always change back whenever if you choose.
O.K. heres the deal. I too had some reservations about dipping this bow. I have always wanted a green glass bear bow. I was so happy when I saw the green under the paint. However, the pics posted of the bow are not of its worst looking parts. The camera also helped to hide lots of dings and scratches. There were stress cracks on the back and belly side of each fade, several dings and scratches all the way up the limbs. I thought about contacting somebody to have the bow refinished. On the other hand I have always wanted a camo bow as well. As asked above I figured the dipping process would also help to preserve the bow. Seeing as I got the bow for FREE I decided it would be the time to spend the money on the camp dipping. Now I have a cheap good looking camo bow as to one I would have had to purchase and then pay to dip. I guess I'm trying to say it was a coin toss for me and camo won.
sweet
Only have one problem with it....
If I set it down in the woods, I would never find it again. Would have to put one of those locater beakons on her!
I have a beater (all ash) that I was considering having dipped. After seeing how your bow turned out, I can see it happening now. As long as I don't looe it....

I don't want to hijack this thread so, could somebody please PM me an answer to my question? If no one knows that's fine.
Always wondered on those camo jobs, nice.
Wannabe - it couldn't hurt. It wouldn't prevent anything serious, but it would act as a backing.
I have a kodiak hunter that has seen some better days and im going to have it done just like yours. I own 5 others that dont have a scratch on them so dipping one is no big deal.
Your bow looks great and if you like it i wouldnt give a rats ass if someone else doesnt like it.
