Title: Fletching jig question
Post by: WPAtrapper on December 14, 2009, 12:29:00 PM
I'm hoping to get a Bitzenberger for Christmas and need some advice. I will be using it mainly to fletch carbons with 5" shield cut feathers, left helical. I've heard guys saying you can fletch helical with the straight clamp. Should I go with the helical or straight clamp?

are you sure they meant that you can fletch offset with a straight clamp? Helical is the curve, Last I knew you couldn't get a curve out of a straight line.

Then again. Maybe I am wrong.

What Jamesh said. Offset and straight clamp- yes. Straight clamp and helical, no.  Grant

Ok thanks, I'll go with the helical.

I use both on my Bitz, and I prefer the helical. Gives great uniformity to the feather and take advantage of the natural curve of the feather...

Have Fun

One more question. Any opinions on whether to get a bitz or the Bearpaw?
