Help make Christmas extra special this year for a very special person.
Ed Pitchkites is an old time traditional hunter from Indiana. I've never even personally met the man, but from what I know about him he is one of the most generous and caring hunters around. He wrote a book that is a true treasure of what bowhunting in this country was like back in the day, and if you have any kind of collection of traditional bowhunting books, Ed's should be a part of it.
He is a connection to our bowhunting roots, and I know it would really be special to him to receive a pile of Christmas cards from bowhunters all over the country. As you are making up your Christmas cards this year, make one extra and send it to:

He would be thrilled to hear from you! :campfire: :archer:
I don't have any Christmas cards, but maybe a picture will do.

Met Ed many years ago. He is a joy to talk to. After he wrote his book, I was visiting with him one day at Cloverdale. I ask if he had any copies with him and he said he might have one in the car. After he retrieved the book, he said "now I ain't gonna autograph it though". Well he finally relented and signed it and gave me one of his signature dreamcatchers. I believe Ed had the first modern day bow kill in Indiana. Quite a character!
Heck of a nice guy... Great book too!
Not to be too awful dumb but what is the title of the book Ed wrote?
Merry Christmas Mr. Pitchkites!!!

Where can a copy of his book? I'd love to ad it to my library.
Somebody out there on the 'gang has my copy. It has been passed around for well over a year now, maybe two years. Hopefully the title of this thread will remind whoever has the book to get it moving to whoever wants to read it next! Mike

I met him at Cloverdale in 2002, a friend of mine and I were sitting on my tailgate and this nice guy walks up to us and strated conversation, we talked for quite a while, before he left he handed us each a dreamcatcher he had made. Great fella I am glad I got to meet.
I got my card from Ed yesterday,un-signed,nothing in it but his "signature" turkey feather. Made me smile and brightened my day!!!
I'm looking for a special card for this very special man,it will be on it's way as soon as I find just the right one!!!!!

Ed was at Cloverdale this year as well. He hung around camp for a day or so. Adeeden (Dennis Jackson) introduced him to us. He shared a copy of his book with us. It's being passed around somewhere. Ed is the real deal. First guy to ever kill a deer with a bow in the original Indiana bow season.
Merry Christmas Ed, wherever you are.
Looked all over and can't seam to find a copy of it on the web. What a shame sounds like it would be a great book. If any one stumbles on some please let me know. Skippy
I would also like to read the book; if someone finds where a person can buy or borrow one.Just when I thought I had read them all over the last 57 years.
Thanks;
Bob
Guys, that book can only be gotten from Ed. He paid for all the publishing up front and had it printed in a local print/newspaper shop.
Right, send hime a Christmas Card and ask him about the book. That is the only way to get one that I know of.....

Ed's book is a good read and seems he still gets out hunting from the picture last year.
Merry Christmas Ed
Sent a card off today and I did ask Ed if he had any copies of the book to sell or loan. If I get one I'll share after I and my son read it.Thanks for
posting this. It was a great idea for what sounds like a very nice man.

Does anyone know how Ed did with all the cards? If he returns a thank you there could be a shortage of turkey feathers...LOL
