Probably not what you thought.
I attended a Rick Welch clinic in South Charleston, West Virginia las Saturday. He had me choose an arrow and he stripped the 5 1/2" feathers off and re-fletched it with 4" ones. He moved them back for a secondary anchor and rotated them slightly for better shelf clearance.
I've been practicing with that one arrow as I have not had the opportunity to re-fletch any of the others. (I bought a fletching jig off of the classifieds, but won't get it until late next week.)
I wanted to hunt this afternoon as it is the last day of our annual firearms antlerless season. So I switched the 125 grain target tip out for a 125 grain Woodsman... took a few shots, touched the Woodsman back up and went hunting. There is something satisfying about competing with the big guns.
Just before dark the 15th deer seen, came under my stand. After passing under my stand... at about 18 yards, the doe turned... quartering away. The shot was good. She ran back under my stand and stopped about 10 yards away. After a few seconds she collapsed and went clear down on her side.
After a short prayer for a quick end I got down and walked over. I'd say the prayer was answered pretty quickly as it took all of about 15 seconds from the time the arrow hit until all movement stopped. Took out both lungs.
That is my first with the BW I purchased on here from blacktailbowhunter.
Gotta go check her in now.

That's a really cool story right there. I'm sure Rick'll be thrilled when he hears it!
Congrats!!
NICE!!!
That is a really cool story I'd hang that arrow on the wall.

How bout a hero pic??
Well, crap, now you have to refletch.
Congrats! Woodsman + 2 lungs = good eating!
Mmmm! Doe!
Well-done!
I'll try to get pics up soon.
Thanks all for the congrats.
Trad has got to be the best... along with the good people that seem to enjoy it.
Way to go! I got to shoot that bow back in Nov. when Paul hunted with us. My buddy is real sorry he let it go.
Way to go.....Wayne. The way that you were shooting at that 3D mule deer down at Gander Mountain, that story doesn't surprise me at all.
After Rick refletched mine, then I changed my anchor point back to my ear lobe, I'm not gonna have to refletch any of mine. But..........my draw length grew by about half an inch or so.

Leatherneck: I done some tuning on it, replaced the velcro on the limbs with limbsavers, got a new string and it is shooting great. I shoot 3 under but still found the nock point just right on the original string.
Don: I started out shooting great at the clinic... then got tired or something. Let's get together sometime and shoot.

Super. I don't usually see 15 deer in a two and a half month season let alone in one short sit.
Wayne,
Great job! You learned by default what I think I learned by experience...take one arrow so you don't shoot 2 deer the same day and nearly end up dead yourself hauling, gutting, skinnin etc. 2 critters when you're getting old(er). :knothead:
Great job! Really feels good to get one in rifle season doesn't it.Congrats! Ben
Wayne,
We all get tired........you were shooting GREAT.
I would love to get together and shoot. I belong to a local club and they have an indoor range off of Rt. 2 North. We can shoot just about anytime that we choose to.
PM me your phone number and we will get together soon, I'm looking forward to it.

PM'd you Don.
I didn't have my camera with me in the woods... the first time this year (believe it or not). By the time I had checked it in and hung it up, rigor had set in.
Pics wouldn't be the same at this point. Just glad to take the first with the BW.
