Title: Better than last season so far!
Post by: ag-pilot on December 09, 2009, 04:05:00 PM
I posted after last season that it would be hard to top the season my hunting buddy and I had, but I think we surpassed it this year. I'm still chasing my second buck and maybe can post a pic of it when we cross paths. Arkansas hunting is hard to beat!!! Here are the pics from this year so far.  (http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z132/tandtpatton/DSC02874.jpg)

My buddy killed both of those bucks out of the same tree about a week apart. The big one was with a doe and the other one was cruising. I missed the 8pt chasing a doe few days before Gary put an end to his chasing. I killed my buck after wading several sloughs in the river bottoms. He was chasing a doe and grunting as hard as he could go. I got the bear this past Saturday evening the shot was 6 steps with about a 40 yard recovery.

The bear was taken in south eastern Ar.  The deer were killed in east central Ar.. Ar. has some very large deer. I know of [2] 190 class bucks taken this year with archery tackle but not trad gear. Most public land here  has so much hunting pressure that getting a shot at a trophy very difficult at best.
