Title: heavier limbs and increased handshock?
Post by: DaveBriner on December 09, 2009, 12:24:00 PM
Hello all,

Looking at moving my pull weight up with some new limbs for my SA III.  If I keep the grains per pound about the same, how much, if any added handshock should I expect?  I would expect since the riser mass stays constant that there would be a little more.  Should I maybe increase my gpp to smooth things out a little bit?  Right now I'm at 51# @ 28", 11.6 gpp.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Dave the SA IMO is the finest hunten bow ever built.  You will not notice any more handshock going up in weight.  I shoot a 60@28 PSA with arrows that are right at 600 grains. Your more then welcome to shoot it anytime you would like I'm only 30 minutes north of you.

Thanks L82Hunt,

The guys at Black Widow put me right on the money when I asked about arrows last time, so I'll probably call 'em back up.  But, just out of curiousity, what arrow do you shoot?  Are you drawing your full 28" ya think?

Did you get some of that wind last night?  had to laugh this morning a little.  Last night I thought briefly about setting my double bull up in the rain for descenting.  That thing woulda been down in Cape Girardeau by now!!

Take care,
Dave

I pull pretty close to 28.  Im shooting easton axis 340 cut to 28.5" 100 grain brass insert and a 180 grain head.  FOC 24%. I have taken quite a few deer with this setup and a pretty good bull.
The wind is terrible I was scared to even hunt this morning.  But tommorrow may be a hole different story.

L82hunt is correct. I agree and think the SA as well as PSA is the finest hunting recurve there is bar none.. I currently shoot 60@27 and have NO hand shock, I am at about 9.75 gpp with my current set up (2216 xx75 and zwickey deltas) I think the same could be said of a 80lb bow with proper arrows
