I think I am done with this one except for the inscription. The neat thing about this one is Tom is a Taxidermist who does European mounts. I used a board twice as long as normal. I did this on the bottom half and he is going to mount the skull on the top half. He will use it for a display for his customers and we will try to do some of them for his customers.
I still have to add the inscription but here it is...

again...wow.
Your stuff is over the top good!
Wow!
Now that is neat!
Thanks for the kind words!
It's funny! I always say I am done, then when I post the pic on here I see things I want to change, LOL!
That is really nice, right down to the facial expression! You are very gifted.
After looking at the pic I posted, I made a couple small changes in the face, that I think make a difference. Also, added the inscription.

you are one awsume dude! burned in wood?
Shakey, Thanks, Dude!
Ya, I hand carve it down to a few different levels, sand the areas I am gonna burn smooth, then burn them with a woodburning pen. Kinda like drawing except I am burning instead of putting down ink or pencil.
I can't believe I never posted pics of this plaque...my apologies guys!
Here is the progression of the mount...when i shot the deer I didn't have time to work on it so I just capped it then the year after decided I wanted a european mount for it so attached the antlers to a reproduction skull and put it on a top notch plaque!!

Looks great Tom! How did you attach the skull to the plaque? I'm kicking around a few ideas now. Might even get fancy and make the skull removable in case I ever need to pack it up. Just curious.
 WOW!!! Nice work!
Very Very nice !!!!
Nice job. Congratulations!
swampdrummer...for a real skull i use molly bolts for locals or wood screws with anchors for people who move it often.
Cool! I just wish we had done the stain on the top half of the board! I know it looks better in person than in pictures, but we will know for the next one!
