A few months ago a good friend lost his battle with brain cancer. Tom was a member of the Primitive Archer family so after his death we put our hearts, heads and talents together and came up with this incredible archery set to present to Tom's son, Patrick as a memorial to his Dad.
The set consists of a sinew backed osage bow with timber rattler backing, 3 sets of arrows; one set of 6 Tonkin cane target arrows, a set of 4 switch cane target arrows and a set of 4 primitive sourwood arrows with self nocks, Cherokee 2 fletch and stone points from 3 different knappers. The knife has a Damascus blade and a 2 wood handle(not sure of the woods) and the sheath is smoked brain tanned deer hide with beautiful bead work. Also with the set is a deer hide possibles bag, bow stringer, arm guard, bow sock and the Plains type quiver I made from axis deer hide tanned especially for this project by another member.
I will present this set to Patrick in the next few weeks. I'm sure he will be as proud and honored to receive it as we were to put it all together. ENJOY!

...oh yea! the handle wrap on the bow is gator belly hide.
Very nice gesture. I'm sorry for the loss, but that is a great way to keep him close.
Sorry for your loss but WOW thats some great bowhunting items you got there.
Beautiful!
Well done Pat and friends!
Very sorry for your loss. Hope the boy is alright. This is as perfect and beautiful a gift as I could imagine.
Beautiful, Pat, and a fitting memorial. So sorry for the loss of a friend, but his son will always remembers his Dad's "family".
Patrick is also a part of the Primitive Archer family and a very talented knapper in his own right. He has been through a lot in the last few years with his Dad's passing and other family problems and the fact that he is 19 years old; if that ain't hard enough by itself. I'm sure he will appreciate the gesture and the folks that thought so much of his Dad. Thanks guys!
All that hard work, done with love and patience, is a wonderful evocation of the honor that your friend commands in your hearts. Blessings to Patrick, I hope he gets some easing of the pain of loss, knowing that such staunch friends stand beside him and his family.
It is one thing to think the world of your father. Wonderful, when many others think the same.

Excellent...just excellent!
As is often the case, the generosity of some of you guys leaves me feeling sorely inadequate. Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

Sorry to hear the loss, very nice thing you guys have done!
I have been through the battle with stage 4 head and neck cancer, came very close to dying, and am now doing well, but I know if my cancer had taken me out, I would have wanted my friends to do something so special and loving like this for my son. God bless you and the others who have given such a fitting memorial of the father to his son! I am certain that Tom is watching this and feeling the love.

Speechless.....
Sorry for the loss, very nice!
I'm with Curt. I don't even know what to say but had to post for such a wonderful gesture. Well done !
Thanks everyone. This was a labor of love!
The original gesture was from a guy that met Tom at last year's Tenn. Classic. Tom had given Dana a mulberry stave and after Tom's passing Dana wanted to have everyone pitch in on making a bow with the mulberry stave. After that stave was tillered (Pappy and Greg B did the tillering) and the bow was being shot in, it BLEW...and I mean blew! It wasn't long before another member offered the sinew backed osage floor tillered stave for this bow.
I believe 16 different folks participated and contributed to Tom's Memorial Bow. Most were friends but a few never even met Tom. The traditional and primitive archery communities are some of the most generous folks I've ever met. I'm proud to be one of 'em! d;^)
That is awesome!
