Got these two little boys that live out in the country here in Iowa and their Grandma came to me since i'm the only Traditional archer she knows. Her little grandsons love to hunt and roam their little patch in the country sharing a fiberglass bow and sticks for arrows that they have about worn out. She was wondering if i knew where she could get a bow for them to use thats a little better, or possiblity their own stuff. What i need to know is what poundage a eight year old could use and poundage a 10 year old could use. Money is an issue for them, but not why i'm here. I will cover that. Just need info and if anyone knows where i can get maybe one or two is not being used before i go new for them. Does my heart good to see two little brothers hunting and sharing and wanting to go traditional at a early age.
3 Rivers has kids outfits and at reasonable prices.
Vic I have a Paul Bunyan Scout duel shelf all fiberglass bow you can have. Picked it up a garage sale this summer just for something like this. Nothing fancy but it will need a string. If you want it just get me your mailling address and I will put it in the mail this week.

Thanks Terry, checked it out. Doug thank you sent you a PM to vist. I don't have any kids or around them to know poundage etc for their ages. Etc.
let me look through my stuff bro.
You can also get in touch with Compton Trad. Bowhunters. They set me up for 6 bows and arrows for some of my local kids.

I have a bow they can have but noa kids arrows.Leme know.
Can you use some 1416's? I have 6 that you can have if needed.....Roy
Thanks Brothers. Don't know about a nice thing to do. But i feel it is the right thing to do, to keep the circle complete. I been blessed many times by others. And here's a chance to show a couple little kids and there folks that some people in this world are givers instead of takers. And Let the spirit of Trad Gang keep reaching out in these troubled times. I sent PM's. Not asking for handouts guys i would gladly pay you for these items.
My 9 year old shoot 25 lbs, and my 12 year old shoots 35 lbs. I hope this helps.
Vic--Have some kids bows left from teaching archery for huntersaftey. will see what weights on the ones i have left. can have any that will work. Bob
Thanks Grayseas yes the information works. Got the arrows taken care of. Thanks Stickhorse.
Good on you Mr. Vic, It is the right thing to do and I bet your heart confirms it before all else. I love your spirit. Thanks!!
God bless,Mudd
Not sure if you've already gotten this advice, but I'm shooting with an eight year old boy who was having trouble drawing his fiberglass bow. (?20#?) I built him a pipe bow and he loves it.
PM me for directions (or do a search for pipe bow) and make them each one. Heck, even I like shooting them, and they're fun to make! The things are simple enough to make that you could involve the kids if you wanted to. Or don't and whip one up in less than an hour if you don't have little hands to watch out for. :) They are very easy to make.

Mr Vic you might drop Mad Dog archery a PM he builds a lot of kids bows and im sure could help with what poundage you should go with.
Thanks alot guys I believe i got em taken care of now if everything goes good as planned. Arrows, Bows. Thanks for all your help.I hope i can take their picture with the stuff and put it on here. Again Thanks for the advice and help.

Mr. Vic you gotta be Da Man! You might be missing few deer,, reindeer that is but you're my kind of Santa no matter how it's cut. Thank you for caring.
It shows that you're traddicted and what a wonderful addiction to have.
God bless,Mudd
PS I stole the word "traddicted" from one of Jacobsladder's posts and I guarantee you that you will see me use it over and over in the future. It ranks right up there with Bob Barnes' signature "Hello, My name is Bob and I'm a BowAholic"
Vic, Your welcome. Its always nice to help with the children. Its a great thing you did and I'm proud to be a part of it.....Roy
Vic- looks like the boys will have a good start on a life long project! thanks again for setting this up, it was nice to be part of it.... Bob
No doubt about the guy has a big heart.
 :notworthy: nice going bro
Something tells me that Mr Vic has done this kind of stuff before.Good on you Vic.
Took the stuff to the grandma yesterday for the boys and to say she was excited was a understandment. She asked me what they owed and i told them about you guys helping out, no costs and that on the site "Trad gang" there was hundreds of people still in the world that lend helping hands out to people. She couldn't believe it. I gave her the names of those that helped and she said she would get a picture of the boys shooting together for us. Again thanks for stepping up to the plate and joining in with me on this little project. I forgot to thank Izzy for offering as well. Happy holidays !
Thats some good stuff right their!!!!!

My kids 9 and shoots a 25# at 26 inch draw marked bow.He draws it 22 inches. He also shoots one thats marked 30# at 28.Not a problem for him at all.Thats a ballpark figure anyway to extrapolate from for the 8 and 10 year old boys.He is bigger than average.
I am not sure what those bows pull at his 22 inch draw.
This is one more reason why this is the best site around. God bless you guys that helped-those boys don't look like they'll be forgetting you any time soon.
Mr. Vic,
My 5-8 year old grandsons and daughters can handle a 20# @24" Little Bear with ease. My ten year old grandson shoots a 30#@28" Browning Spartan 62" bow. 1/4" shafts for the younger ones and 5/16" shafts for the older one.
:notworthy: :)
