Title: Apollo metal longbow

I just purchased a longbow made in Oldbury birmingham England by the Apollo bicycle co. It is all tublar steel with the model name Merlin 30# @ 26". also has a indian head w/ the name Jack Ford inside it. anyone have any info on it ??

Cool collector's piece, but not safe to shoot, unfortunately.

They're pretty common in the UK, I've seen & handled 20+ Apollo bows. Lovely lightweight target bow. The bad part is that due to the materials they were manufactured from (aluminium or chromolybdenum), they have a tendency to become dangerously brittle over time & shatter when shot.

Nice for the wall, not so goodfor the range.

Martin archery used to sell a bow like that years ago but I don't remember if it was that brad or not.  Got me wondering now I might have to look that one up.

Just did a quick check, go to archery history.com and click on the longbow section, the first ad is for a Apollo bow, hope this helps you with a little info.
