Lets see some of the old Hill bows.

I went to the 'Hill company' and went through some bows - trying out each one with a bit of glee. I shot the Cheetah and really fell in love. It is a beautiful wood on the limbs - Scattershot- show us the limbs on the Cheetah...not for Bear; but for the Hill of it :)
Classic, just classic!!!
beautiful, just beautiful - who could not love the timeless beauty of a near straight bent stick?
Here ya go, Brian. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v103/scattershot/DSCN0152.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v103/scattershot/DSCN0146.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v103/scattershot/DSCN0147.jpg)
Thats very nice!!! What is the wood? It looks like my cedar chest......Roy
I would love to see more PLEASE!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance!
God bless,Mudd
The Cheetah has Juniper on the limbs Roy. I believe it is the best looking bow in the line up. The wood is just gorgeous, and the bamboo cores make it a smooth operator. I'll post some pics also when I can get my photobucket deal to work.
Definitely your Cheetah is a looker under the clear glass. I have (4) Hills and love hunting each one.
Been shooting Hill's since early 70's and have a barn full of'em. Mostly 70" Big 5's and Tembo's. At 70 pounds Ole Reliable got too heavy for me a few years ago and I gave it to a good friend who can neither string it nor shoot it. For the past few years this has been my favorite, 70", 60 pound Big 5.

Aside from a few used Hills with all the bells and whistles I've picked up over the years I've never bought a "fancy" one new. Terry sent me a dandy one last year, a compact little 66" 60 pound Wesley. Bow is special because of the inscription and because of the person who did the art work. Thanks again Terry.

In that barn you have full of Hill bows if you need to make room I would love to talk about a taken one off your hands 70# or more would do.

Yes it is, and yes he is.
BTW Curt, you are one of many represented on this bow. I generally hunt alone but when packing this bow I always have company. :)

Here's one I finished this year. 62#@28", 68" long, double shelf, sleeve takedown, large sleeve, fast flight string, Cocobolo handle and tips.

I thought this was about "old" Hill bows ;) Kinda hard to tell the old from the new. I just picked one up this week from the classifieds--a Hill Tembo built by John Schultz around the mid- ninteen sixties. What a great bow! Black glass on the back, white belly, myrtle riser. Oh, I wish I were able to post pictures--maybe someday before long.

Your right David. Sorry about that, I get turned around easily these days. :)
This is the first Hill I bought new about 1973. Think I paid $75 for it. It's a Schulz made Tembo, 70", 60 pounds. No telling how many arrows this thing has flung and it has been refinished a few times. Notice the wider, thinner core limbs than are used on these bows today. Also has a full 1 1/2" backset in limbs. I think the Hills got their (undeserved) reputation for kick from the bows of this time period. Certainly not as sweet as what Craig makes today but I still shoot it a lot.

The last one should be of a custom Wesley Special that Craig built for me in 2008. Claro Walnut riser, Elk hide laced grip, 2 outer laminations of curly maple over 5 bamboo cores, and mammoth ivory tip overlays!
Keep them Hills a'comin boys! I like'em.

RC,
That's a nice sized hog there with that Cheetah. Congrats on that one.
Tom, my "new" old Hill Tembo is like yours in that it has limbs that are a bit wider mid-limb than the current Hills. I honestly can't say the newer ones I have shoot any sweeter than this one. I like 'em all

Cool thread, keep 'er going.
Hey Dave it's not even close to passing yet! I may have to dig out my other keyboard though as this one seems to keep getting this wet slimy drool all over it..lol
Thanks for the pictures, I hope and pray there's more to come. I can't seem to get enough. I have located one at a price that's fair and at a weight I can handle, hence my ad to sell 3 bows.

OK, we've seen lots of currently made Hill bows, how about some of the older ones made by the man himself or back when he was still making them. I'd like to see the vintage ones if anyone has some.
Up for the evening shift.....Peace
bumper time ...any hill pics make me happy
Gotta love them Hill's. Here's a picture of mine. Maybe this week I'll get my seventh HIll.

Nice lookin' bow.
This is like archery porn,So many HOT bows. I want a Hill anyone want to trade for wheelie bow?
I just ordered another one today. I already have a 70" 63#@29" Wesley. Just ordered a 66" Big Five 52#-53#@28", Cocobolo handle and tips, clear glass, laced black elk handle wrap. I wanted to shorten up a bit for manuevering in thicker woods and come down in weight a bit for accuracy sake. Now I have to sell some other ones to make room!
Love the looks of that roughed grouse!
Sounds like an awesome lookin' bow Ken. How long did Craig tell you?
Right now it's 5-6 weeks give or take.
Don't forget the Myrtle. (http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv247/pukingguts/P1010714.jpg) O (http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv247/pukingguts/P1010715.jpg) or the bamboo.

That gray glass looks pretty cool. Ebony riser and tips?
Ken I ordered another "Big Five" the first week in November. Craig told me it was a 3-5 week build. I think he takes some time off during the holidays. I'm at the point where I set in my living room and stare out the window waiting for a UPS truck. Thats bad. You ever notice that UPS trucks have their own distinctive sound. I love the lightness and the quietness of the Hill bows.
I dropped way down in weight on this bow. It will be 66",40# @ 28, black glass front and back, Arican black wood riser, finished handle with high gloss hand rubbed finish. Its going to be my "back yard plinking" bow.
URRRGH, well....... maybe tomorrow.
Loose
We'll be looking for pictures when you get that new bow. Sounds nice.
I just love the simple classy looks of Hill style bows, and this is one of the best threads I've seen. Just brining it back up to see if anyone has any more beauties to add.
That was nice thanks everyone for sharing.
Here is a picture I took in 1997 of Gary Sentman with his world record bow (176#@28 1/4") that he pulled back in 1975. I don't know if the bow was made in 1975 or if it was made before then, but it was a HH bow, for back then he was sponsored by HH Archery and Company. (Oh, he and John Shultz both put on a shoot in 1975...and although Gary didn't shoot the 176#er, he did shoot a 150#er on stage.

Since Ben threw in his favorite Hill styles I have to post mine LOL! My Sunset Hill is not vintage, but about as close as you'll get to one in a new bow. Here's a few of "White Dragon" which is 66" and 59@26.5 a great bow that I will never part with!!
