7:45.
I thought I heard something..."is that rattling?" I thought to myself.
A quick check through the binnoculars confirmed the stuff dreams are made of. Two nice whitetails with horns locked were on the adjacent ridge. A flurry of scenarios rushed through my head.
"Should I rattle, grunt, uhhhh...no just be quiet, let it play out, ok maybe just a little grunt, then try rattling a little" The argument with myself took only a second. I rattled softly for a short sequence. The rattling sparked some interest and one buck peered my way. A couple of soft grunts and he slowly began lumbering my way. Not in a hurry, but I had all morning and there was no need to pressure the buck.
The end result...

Very nice! thats a great picture too! Congrats
Time slowed, my hands instantaneosly thawed, and my heart started beating fast! The buck walked three steps from my tree. He peered through the forest, the scars on his neck told me he wasn't the kind of buck to back down from a fight. He slowly crept past my tree. At seven yards the arrow burried behind his shoulder. An explosion of leaves followed by silence followed. He ran sixty yards and began the wobbly dance. He fell and it was all over in less than 15 seconds. I was thrilled, thanking the Lord for such a special morning.
Looking in awe
